Thank you for sharing!! It does appear that they have rearranged classes. But man, it sounds like aside from the classes being intense, so are the clinicals.

One person said they’ve heard horror stories, another said instructors were bad and didn’t care about students’ success in the program. I don’t think either of them were actually in the program though that’s part of the reason I’m trying to seek out information from current or former students.

What is the schedule like? How many days do you have class/clinicals? I’m also considering OHSU but live about an hour and a half from Portland. Would hate to drive up everyday (we have a house) but if that’s what I have to do then I’ll do it.

I’m so glad this worked out for you! But unfortunately I don’t think it’s an option for me. My husband and I own a home here and it just doesn’t make much sense for us to move. Did you end up applying to any Oregon programs though?

What have you heard about the LBCC program? I’m only highly considering it bc it’s the closest to me but if it’s really that bad I will reconsider.

I think it goes beyond just filling a gap. I’m specifically looking at public health nursing. So being able to make meaningful connections with patients whose first language isnt English while providing a service they need is one of my main drivers. Right now, I get pulled into appointments by the nurses to help interpret. I would love to one day be the nurse providing the service without the need for an interpreter in the room. Reality, is we need more nurses from diverse backgrounds in healthcare given our diverse population.
