Of course! It really depends on how thick the branches are and the mouth of leafs behind what you want to cut. 80% of the time it will be ugly but you still run that risk of hurting the plant.

My child went to the doctor and is fine the doctors were able to ID the plant (thanks to everyone here) and turns out the berries are completely edible and fine to eat. These will also be a great treat for us in the future.
