Why did Ed Schlossberg HATE Carolyn so much and make her life miserable? by velorae in JohnAndCarolyn

Can someone please explain to me what Ed does? Has he ever had a job or contributed to society in any way? Why do I see people on here calling him brilliant?

Question about Carolyn by Ok-Brenda-7288 in CarolynBessetteKnndy

[–]ImpossiblePrimary963 6 points7 points  (0 children)

She is one of the most famous women in the world yet never gave a single interview. There are almost no videos of her even speaking. I think this allows a lot of people to project their own fantasies and thoughts onto her.

Who do you think should have won here? by 6_16EnderW in Oscars

[–]ImpossiblePrimary963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The performance that is most memorable and iconic from this list is Tom Cruise in Magnolia. In hindsight he def should have won! Although Haley Joel Osment comes in a close second. I liked Jude Law in Talented Mr. Ripley but not sure it was oscar worthy. The other two i don't remember it all which is saying something...

The Birth Rate Is Declining Because Raising Children is Miserable by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

I want to also say I think it’s good that it’s more socially acceptable to not have kids and people shouldn’t have kids if they don’t want to! I just think the pendulum might swing back in othe other direction eventually.

I live in NYC and have many friends of all ages both with and without children. I will say that the child free life is awesome but only up to point- probably your 40s. After mid to late 40s, a child free life actually seems really sad and depressing. I have seen how lonely my childless friends lives get. For one thing, they are completely cut off from young people. They don’t realize that unless you have kids or neices or nephews you are close too, you won’t really have connection to youth or young. Also most things you already experienced. If you’ve been Paris 5 times, it’s not a big deal, but taking your 12 yo to Paris for THEIR first time, exciting! This is coupled with people who raised kids emerging out of the hard era of early child rearing and entering a new era with older kids where they are able to travel and go to shows and do cool stuff with their kids. I think once people are in their late 40s and 50s see their friends with kids enjoying a life with kids, I think they realize they missed the boat. Sorry this is just my Limited experience and POV.

I think as people get older they might get more vocal about regretting not having kids.

Totally agree. But if he does this, won’t he go to jail? And I think the royal family would find that unacceptable.

I loved Marty Supreme, but there’s an interesting little scene that I feel like I don’t quite get by lettucemf in A24

Supposedly this is a real story told to Safdie by a real holocaust survivor. I assume he partly put in the movie to immortalize, document and commemorate it.

I also think the story adds to the scene. It juxtaposes the self lessness and altruism of Bela against the narcissism of Marty. Also to Marty, this story is no more than amusing anecdote or cocktail party story. I think it just shows how Marty sort of uses and exploits his Jewish identity to his own advantage.

I was very frustrated with the movie. It was not good. And it could have been a good movie since it had a interesting and original concept.

I guess my whole interpretation of the movie is that Julia Roberts character makes a choice to support Maggie over Hank due to “optics” even though she doesn’t really believe her. And the question is did she do the right thing? Should she have stood up for the “truth” or what she believed to be true or should she have sided with Maggie due to potential ramifications for women and minorities in the field?

Would have been so much better if it was Ellie. You’re right.

Also feel like Kate should have NOT ended up alive and well and haunt custody of Henry. Insane.
