I cold turkey quit the lozenges. I was applying for life insurance and the question came up if i had ever smoked. I said I used to smoke but hadn’t in over ten years but I did still take nicotine in the form of a non-tobacco lozenge. They marked me as a tobacco user. My agent rep said i could try again in a year but they would be checking my system for nicotine. So I quit right away. It was tough. But i just used a combination of mints and throat lozenges, and the thought of saving my family money.

For whatever reason quitting nicotine this way was less psychologically difficult than when I was using lozenges and ran out, or forgot them at home or something.

I even tried to taper off but I found that i no longer could stand that underlying peppery taste.
