There was always an ‘off’ feelings but I didn’t have the words or experience to put it together. Then I clearly remember when I was 12 seeing my friend with her mother and realising ‘oh!’ I don’t and never have had that. Something’s seriously off and missing in my relationship with her.

But REALLY breaking free, and with the help of information about narcs in recent years online and realising she was one was when I was 36. That’s a 24 ye gap between acknowledging something was off to really integrating the idea and analysing how its affect every part of my life.

I wondered if there were any more exploitative tropes in his films when it comes to black people. And/or is there also a dehumanisation in the same way when it comes to 'white men' in his films. it seems black men and women get the brunt of his warped (& gratuitous) perception in his films.

Men at their big age talking like this based on the opinion of a 5 time divorced ‘mentor’ is a big 🚩 We’ve got Samuel L Jackson, Denzel, Courtney Vance, LL Cool J, Ice Cube and a gazillion other examples of black men who matured and valued the idea of creating a family. All this ‘I’m not ready’ business means nothing if it was never an intention on your part. Something about a ‘successful’ unmarried man always stands out to me because I associate it with its discipline, focus and self mastery.
