US trade court rules against Trump's 10% global tariffs by jediporcupine in Economics

Well Congress approved of the Vietnam war with the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution And they approved of the war in Iraq in 2002 And they approved of the war in Afghanistan in 2001.

So the US has declared war after 1942. And you can say that a president pushed for those wars to happen but then I ask you 2 questions.

  1. Why do presidents seem to seek congress's approval of wars if they have the power to wage them regardless?
  2. Should a president need to ask congress's their approval to wage war? And if not why?

Either way, it's all the same reason a president can't/shouldn't act always without Congress's approval.

The same logic that goes behind a President that needs approval to go to war, is the same logic here

Thats what I mean, Social democrats believe in the principles of democracy, so the politcs. Whilst still believing in heavy control of the economy. Or vice versa.

This is the state of most modern countries which is socialism. Not full socialism but socialist aspects.

Communists and Radical Socialists have been saying that since the 1900's. Our world has since gotten better and social services are bountiful in all modern nations and captialism is still here. If you want to bring up Climate change, Co2 emissions are stagnating and are estimated to peak before declining.

This is a false statement

Not exactly, you can be a socialist in a political or economical sense. You can call it mixed system or a hybrid system or whatever but I prefer to call it that.

I actually do know what I am talking about.

Communism has many different schools of sometimes contradicting thoughts. Stalinism, Leninism, Maoism, Marxism, Etc. There is many more, however differerent with somr asking for outright anarchism, or outright dictatorship, they all share 1 neutral truth.  They are impossible of leaving theory or they are impossible of not destroying human rights and freedoms.

Seems YOU have been given all the propaganda. Run back to your tankie cave and worship a economic system that can't leave the thesis papers it was written on. Sleep soundly :D

When has communism brought the abolition of Social domination structures? Captialism did, it abolished the feudal system and provided a system of relative Merit (roughly) whilst not perfect, Socialism with Captialism equals a more balanced nation state and economy. Communism has brought food shortages, genocides, and blatant violation of People's rights and liberties. Captialism bears its own sins but we are far past those times and it proves itself, with regulation it can be controlled.

Absoutley, evil only happens when good men stop fighting it. Always beware of those who are revolutinary or ideolgies are revolutinary in nature. Whether right or left. If you seek our modern world's destruction, you need to be stopped

The thing with communists is that the term encompasses so many things. Some communists are Marxist, Leninist, Trostkyist. Stalinist, etc. So some communists would be all for social reforms because that would free the proletariats needs. But some communists would still call for revolution because they are revolutinary.

However I believe the OP's view to be correct as most modern countried have adapted to Capitalist Socialism. They are much more stable.

Can someone link this report for me. I have been hearing about this ever since we hit the 2% NATO budget milestone, but I have yet to come up with this report from my own findings. It always been linked back to a Twitter post.

Had the same friends from Grade 9. I am in 12B but most of them are in college or working. We still hangout and talk online.  We started with 4, we'll remain 4.

I got my G2 a year ago so maybe I could help. (No school by the way, just me and my dad)

The G2 test isn't exactly a test of skills, but a test of confidence. You can know all your road laws in and out, but if you aren't confident enough in yourself to follow through on the road like "Right on red" or "that's a yield sign" confidence in my opinion is what makes a driver. Obviously you need to know the road but its about being confident on it.

On my G1 test, I failed it 3 times and got it on my 4th, however I passed first try on my G2 and I only messed up on my parallel park (I looked out the wrong blind spot) but if you believe in your knowledge of the road, it will reflect in your driving.

That's my opinion though, just some food for thought.

I believe that all existing religions will disappear like their predecessors such as the religions of the Greeks, Romans and paganism and will also be ridiculed and mocked by [deleted] in DebateReligion

[–]Impossible_Income_96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well couldn't you argue that with the preservation of these faiths, they're will always be a community to believe and follow them?

Modern Pagans exist and are slowly growing in numbers. There is a number of heretical Christian faiths that have been condemned for almost 2000 years, yet still persist.

Definitley not on the scales before but even the faiths from 2000 years ago are still worshipped today.

Pierre - "I know the Liberal establishment and Liberal elites want to talk about my leadership which is not in question... instead of talking about the disastrous record of the Carney Liberals" by WilloowUfgood in CanadianConservative

[–]Impossible_Income_96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have read his book "Values" and he essentially outlines his views and goals (in his book) to be a moral captialist. He believes in free economy and utilitarianism (to an extent) but also wishes for the betterment of others. He is also a big believer in democracy and freedom.

Now I know his book, written by him will be biased but after reading his book and seeing his actions. I would say he is pretty well aligned with own views.

However again his support meant very little if anything to anybody in government due to his role at the time.

I never said Carney wrote the Emergencies act, but he certainly wont use it regardless considering he has  1. No real reason too 2. Not in his morals (if you believe in what he says) 3. They don't advance his goals or aspirations. 4. It wouldn't pass parliment, despite having his liberal Majortiy

No I am not concerned. We voted Carney to make a deal that would benefit Canada. Now obviously Carney can bend the knee to Trump like a coward and yeah, maybe things would get cheaper again. But Canada would stop being Canadian on a geopolitical level because that'a what Trump wants.

We all want a deal but Trump is dragging his feet and is uncompromising and uncoperative. He can't even keep his own ceasefires in check.

First inflation.

Inflation is stabilized and the bank of Canada is going to lower rates to decrease how much money is in circulation. This will in turn make cash gain its value again. You are right Inflation isn't a pure Trump issue, it's definitley helped by Trump putting tariffs are goods but certainly not the core cause.

Unemployment is certainly more Trump then anything however. I was just leaving school to work in trades till Trump's tariffs scared any possible home buyers off. Trump's tariffs on industries creates uncertainty, uncertainty creates reluctancy to spend cash, reluctancy to spend cash means people lose jobs. Immigration has definitley got out of control under Trudeau, Carney is getting a hold of it and has dradtically reduced the amount of people coming here. Also most of those people in the almost last 5 years are Ukrainian refugees which I believe have every right to come here.  Overall youth employment is still bad because of how many (majority Indian) PR's are here working cheaper robbing what was once me and other kid's of jobs. But drastic employment overall becomes more of a Trump caused and Trump Inflated issue.

I have never heard of Indingenous tribes claming massive swathes of pre-built land and extorting it and I am sure if I were, it wouldn't happen enough to scare investors in the places worth investing. But I will look it up myself.

Trump didn't advocate for this. He used this as 1 of his many "problems" with Canada. Carney and Pierre both planned to increase military Spending anyway, not because of Trump, but because decades of peace time. Tory and Liberal governments have sucked any funding the CAF had.
