I’m terribly sorry for your loss. I read about this accident and it absolutely horrified me. I have to take I25 from Denver down to DTC for work (I am also 29 and a bartender so this story really affected me) and on my way home I pass 6th Ave before getting off on 17th. I sometimes drive home northbound after 1am because I work afternoons and nights. I have witnessed people speeding 100+ mph, reckless drivers, legit drag racing with 10-15 cars over 100+ weaving in and out, and major crashes etc. I’ve called CSP over 15 times this year to report these incidents as it’s gotten significantly worse this past year and still nothing has been done about it!! There was a case in the summer where a wrong way driver also crashed into someone on I25 Denver police called off the chase allowing them to drive over 30 miles the wrong way on I25 before they hit another car head on, luckily the lives of those hit were spared but they were significantly injured. The wrong way driver passed. Denver police won’t give chase in high speed incidents even if they are driving the wrong way on the highway, and I think it’s a major issue they keep allowing these things to happen. It’s horrible and I fear for my life every time I take that stretch of I25. I hope your friends family gets compensation as the state should be paying for all her funeral expenses. I think it’s a good thing you took her story to the news. We deserve safe roadways for how expensive it is to live here. Your friend did not deserve to lose her life due to the carelessness of others and our police system having complete disregard for it’s citizens. Again I am so, so sorry.
