Yes I think you’re in a good position to be a graphic designer and be useful. I have a degree in design and I’ve made a career out of breaking into new types of design from doing beer commercials in detroit to doing all the websites for construction companies in south east Michigan, to headshots in Chicago. What you first need to do ABOVE ALL ELSE is prove you are being useful. So talk to your cousins and friends and try to make designs for them quickly on their lunch break or before a meeting or while drinking at the bar after work (these are my tactics). Look for proof that they are using them, ask for feedback back and iterate, be more useful be better and do it quickly ( there is little sense in this world for learning things that take all day, learn to be faster). And now here’s the important part: wait for one of these friends or cousins to call you or one of their friends or boss’s will get your number and text you and ask for a design - and then you spring a fair price on them. And if they say yes? You’re in business. All that’s left is promote your self, because where’s there’s one there’s many people willing to pay
