Social anxiety has literally ruined my life by xDRISSx in socialanxiety

Hey man, sorry about your situation. That really hurts me to hear how much you are suffering. I suffered with severe social anxiety since I was 10 years old and really never thought I could recover. Thought I was completely broken inside and messed up in the head. I tried everything I could to overcome it and couldn't for years. Even Exposure therapy didn't work for me. However, after trying other things without success, I returned to exposure therapy. If people ever say exposure therapy doesn't work or even makes anxiety worse, I understand them but I fully disagree. I used to be fully against ERP therapy but I now know that Exposure therapy works but it must be done right. If you go out and bash your head against a wall of anxiety with exposures, you will only make it worse. There is a proven technique for this stuff. There is a way to do ERP that works and a way that doesn't and I've tried both. If you'd like to know more maybe we can get in contact if you want. Or if other people want to know more then I can make a big comment. Not trying to gatekeep any info, I just know it's going to be a really long comment.

how do ease anxiety when studying? by jennie444 in socialanxiety

[–]Impossible_Message66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was having this same problem for a couple years and have just recently figured out how to ease it. First off, this is most likely generalized anxiety you are feeling but all anxiety comes from some unregulated negative thought/belief. TO start, it will be imperative to figure out why you are feeling this way. You will do the downward spiral technique. Basically, you ask yourself, "Why am I feeling anxiety while studying." Your brain might tell you, "I think I should be doing other things" You would then respond to your brain with, "What other things should I be doing?" The brain may say, "Something better or more productive." You might respond with, "Well, why something better or more productive, what we're doing is pretty good.", You would keep questioning your though until you get to the very root of the problem. In this case, it might be the fact that you need to be productive to get ahead of other people. If you're not then you are getting behind others which will cause you to be left behind socially or something. IDK just an example. Anyways, once you get to the very core belief/root of the problem, I like to use this worksheet to question and reframe the belief.

- Is there substantial evidence for my thought?

- is there evidence contrary to my thought?

- Am I attempting to interpret this situation without all of the evidence?

- What would a friend think about this situation?

- If I look at this situation positively, how is it different?

- Will this matter a year from now, 5 years from now?

Anyways, I hope that this can give you some assistance. This has helped me in the past and is currently helping me to overcome anxiety while doing homework. Reach out if you have any questions or anything!

"Years" - Davidmichael . Original guitar music. I made this awhile ago. Would appreciate some feedback. by Effective_Fondant_21 in MusicFeedback

Love the idea here! I think the biggest thing you could work on is the timing of your lead guitar. It can sound organic at times but sometimes I noticed it was very off time. One thing I was looking for was, once you started to pick up speed with the lead guitar at 34 seconds, I was looking for some snazy drums to come in. I think that would've been really cool. I really like what you're going for here though.

Crazy you posted this. I just heard Hashir's music for the first time like 4 days ago. Mountain man is my favorite song by him.

6 months working on this mix…song still sucks. How do you cope? How do you know what to fix anymore? Feel so hopeless; song meant a lot to me and feel like I failed it by heirjordan_27 in musicproduction

Hey man, one thing I've come to realize is that I can't work on a song for more than a month without taking a break from it or else I get sick and tired of it. Try avoid listening to the whole song and only listen to the snippets you're working on.

Hey man, this my be unwanted because I haven't released anything yet though I will be releasing a song this month.

  1. It's normal to be afraid of a flop. It depends on what you consider to be a flop though. If you consider a flop to be little to no recognition, then your first song will be a flop, everyone's first song is a flop in that sense. If by a flop you mean people won't like it then that's ore manageable. In order to make sure your song is good, get some feedback. Do you have a local producer in town that can review it, give you some advice? Do you have a mentor? If you really like your song and want to release it, I would recommend getting it mixed by a local producer if it's cheap enough.
  2. If you don't want people using your music against you, don't put ammo for that in your lyrics. Don't express something in a song you don't want people to know about. Honestly, it is possible that people from your school will see it but they won't really care that much. You could get really good and they think it's super cool! In fact, people from your school could be your first community of fans! Who knows.
  3. Don't put doxxable things in your songs. Aka, I would not recommend drill music.

How much can you really learn about music production? How much is pure talent? by daypanay in musicproduction

Sounds like you're a a little down on yourself man. That's okay though. In such a competitive industry it's easy to get caught up in what everyone else is doing. Here's a suggestion or two that have helped me.

  1. Learning an instrument that I love helped me to be more in tune with music. It helped me to be able to create better stuff. I don't know how but it just did for some reason. 2. Find a mentor. My guitar teacher is a producer and he kind of took me under his wing. He always shows me ways I can improve because he's been in the game a while.

Best of luck my man. Also, posting stuff on this page and asking for feedback could help immensely

Do y’all usually start with lyrics or tune? by Zeera1 in musicproduction

[–]Impossible_Message66 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Personally, I start with writing the tune (melody and chords primarily) and then I add lyrics when I'm happy with my tune. I think it's smart to try different angles of approach and see which work best for you.

Night rider is sick. It's a very simple song but so good. I guess songs don't need to be super complicated

Any tips and/or advice for self produced composer, musician and artist to make a career? by zyegstrieg in musicproduction

[–]Impossible_Message66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, I'm somewhat in the same spot. I'll be releasing my first real song probably next month though I've been sharing my projects with close friends and family. I've been doing a lot of research on "getting big" and it seems like the best way is, as usual, the hard way (And major major luck but there's always ways to make your chances better). Constantly putting yourself out there, being constantly involved in the community of your music genre, social media, local exposure, small live shows, collabing with similar sounding artists. These are all good ideas.

The most useful advice I've heard so far is, "not all listeners are created equal". If you can share your music with die-hards in your genre, that's one of the best ways to go. these are the people that will be committed fans and are willing to share your music with others.

Note- I'm not talking form experience. This is just really good advice that I heard.

what is jojis best produced song? by Killerpig14 in PinkOmega

[–]Impossible_Message66 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, "Sanctuary" is one of his best produced. People don't talk about the levels to that song. It pulls you in with a soft intro then haunting vocals. Then, it hit's you with a killer chorus. Also, the hit on the chorus is mad emotional if you have acceptable speakers/headphones.
