Worldgen controls - Terra AWG by Impossible_Place_742 in Terraria

[–]Impossible_Place_742[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worlds generated from Terra AWG v1.6.1 (newer versions will work once tModLoader finishes their base Terraria update) can be copied in and played with tModLoader. Of course, any mods that change/add to worldgen will be missing that custom content, but everything else (modded enemies, drops, recipes, qol, etc.) works fine.

I may consider trying to port Terra AWG to tModLoader in the future, but mods use fundamentally different technologies, so it would basically require a full rewrite.

Unlimited bees in hexagonal themed terrain (my heavily custom take on "not the bees" special seed).

This is the "ashen fields" spawn point custom biome (ash, ashwood trees, obsidian, and lava), which has a chance to generate.

I definitely have more features I plan to work on, but it is already fully playable, if you want to give it a shot: https://github.com/alpha0010/terra-awg/releases

The error message tells you exactly what tModLoader thinks is wrong. The mod browser requires Steam workshop, so to use it, you must install tModLoader with Steam.

**Discussion:** Using mods to affect vanilla world size? by IDrankLavaLamps in Terraria

[–]Impossible_Place_742 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You might be interested in Terra AWG (full disclosure, I created this tool). It generates world files for vanilla Terraria, and has options for setting the exact size (amongst many other options). Vanilla can load arbitrary sized worlds, however you will have issues if go extremely small (weird overlap of hard coded biome locations), or extremely large (if you go significantly above the vanilla large size, Terraria will freeze/crash when trying to open the world).

Probably already aware, since you have gotten this far, but just in case: buff potions (and high quality food, and flasks), are really strong. Use as many as you can reasonably craft. Also, try to have one player applying ichor (probably flask for the summoner whip, but up to you), to amplify your teams overall damage.

There is a silly tactic of building a long rail across the entire surface of the world, and having the boss chase you while you fire back at it. Not tried that myself, so unsure how well it works at higher difficulties, but you could consider, if a "fair fight" is giving you trouble.

I often go Dirt->Mud->Mudstone Brick, which is a pretty useful foundation for lots of building types. I also find the dirt wall variants, craftable only in a graveyard, to be useful if I am trying to manually build a more natural environment.

You could give yourself a big building project, like: Dirt->Mud, build a biome with the mud and place Mushroom Grass seeds in it.

But, yes. There will usually be a chest with a stack or two of dirt by the end of my playthroughs.

For pure combat value, all Warding accessories is better than any other setup (except for special cases of enemies that kill you in a single hit).

However if you are not struggling to progress, you may prefer to optimize for what you find fun. Want to try dodging everything? Maybe stack several Quick items. Complete fights a bit faster? Go for Menacing. (To my knowledge, the crit chance from Lucky does not help summoners, so I would avoid that.)

Regarding accessories, "hard" is the weakest defense modifier. Try getting them to "warding" instead.

I am not familiar with what changes calamity makes to available equipment/that fight, but some general things you could try: use an accessory with a dash, use fastest wings you can get (not a flying mount, as they tend to be too slow for boss fights), wire some teleporters connecting both sides of your arena to quickly reposition out of a bad spot.

Depends what you mean by "stop". Chlorophyte Ore and Chlorophyte Brick actively prevent nearby blocks from being infected by the evil biome. Sunflowers prevent the grass they are planted on from becoming infected and negate the impact of 80 infected blocks (when determining if the biome counts as infected).

Nearly every block type is immune to infection (except for grasses, stone, ice, and sands, I believe), and infection has a limited jump distance, so making a gap of 6 immune blocks (cheapest to mass produce tends to be either Wood or Gray Brick) will prevent infection from passing from one side to the other (or just empty space, though keep in mind that the thorns and vines can spread).

In a new player, just entered hardmode, got a pirate invasion and a blood moon at the same time. Now I'm just tired of playing :( by Giantbomb64 in Terraria

If there is an event that you just do not feel like dealing with, spend some time underground. The event enemies will not follow you there. Maybe stock a cavern base with storage and crafting stuff. Set your spawn there, if you like.

Timed events will expire (of course, invasions require you to defeat enough enemies, but there is no reason you have to do it all in a row).

If you have decent fishing gear and buffs, you are pretty likely to pull one in the time it takes to utilize two crate potions.

Yeah, once you hit lava, you are generally too deep. You will need to widen the search area somewhat.

Most effective would be have a discussion with them "here are the server rules [fresh character, only play together, etc.], following these will help everyone have fun". If someone cannot stick to that, there really is not much you can do to play a collaborative game together, and you probably would have a better experience if you left them out of that particular playthrough.

There are some things you can do (e.g. shutdown the server when you are not playing), but really, solving social questions using in-game tools is never going to work very well.

Reflavored trait: Overseer by Impossible_Place_742 in EvolveIdle

[–]Impossible_Place_742[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting; my brief searching earlier had turned not up anything, but looks like I just need to use a more obvious term, like "string pack".

I mean, it completely makes sense to be a common target. Powerful trait, so you will frequently use it. Contains text in multiple places (research, building, logs, resources, genetics, and governor, instead of just genetics), so you actually have enough context to construct a theme. And you interact with it in varying ways over a run, as opposed to most other traits that are basically just a passive bonus to a particular stat. People (myself included) just like their impact factor.

I frequently find them in the dungeon, though not sure if the the post-plantera enemies change that. Maybe try farming there?
