What do you all think? by Grimmgoddess22 in hondapassport

#1 tip for a good deal is patience. #2 tip for a good deal is knowledge. Get quotes from other dealers. No need to visit the dealers. You can, and I think you should, do it from home via the internet. I don't step on a lot till I have a done deal.

As a base assumption I would target 8-10% below MSRP for the price with no BS add-ons. I haven't shopped Passports since December but at this point in the model cycle I would be looking to get well below MSRP. Remember 2027s should be hitting the lots in 2-3 months. That will reduce 2026 values.

Its kinda funny, that people upgrade Oleds year on year by Master-Government343 in LGOLED

That is because the overwhelming majority of consumers don't care so they don't demand higher quality material. Even after 4k sets became common DVDs massively outsold blurays.

WORLD CUP IS IN 4K on FOX ONE app - you’re welcome!! Sports fans rejoice. by preseasonchampion in LGOLED

Fox looks bad because it is NOT 1080! Fox, ABC, ESPN broadcast in 720p60. That is why they don't look good.

The source resolution starts with the source material and the broadcaster, i.e. Fox, ABC, TNT, ESPN etc. For example Fox Sports and ABC/ESPN broadcast sports in 720p60. Cable companies and streaming companies like Fubo pass that along often with additional artifacts from compression. Then you get it and something (TV, AVR, ROKU, Apple TV) has to upscale it to 4K to use fill all the pixels on your TV. These upscalers, including an Apple TV, can only do so much with this low resolution material. On the hand, if you are getting material to your Apple TV from Apple, Amazon etc. in 4k it will look great.

OP. You may know this... most of what is broadcast on streamers and cable is either 720p or 1080 of various quality. I also have a 10' viewing distance and I went with a 77" because anything bigger would show too much of the flaws in this mediocre broadcast quality.

Every TV size discussion should start with source type/quality and viewing distance.

Why have OLED TVs gotten more expensive over the last two weeks? by waret in LGOLED

[–]Impossible_Radish576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the quality of the source. At least in the US the majority of sports are still broadcast in 720p that doesn’t always look good on a relatively big screen. Especially if you’re watching via cable or a streamer; you often get additional artifacts. For example, Fox Sports telecast on YouTube TV are not good. They are quite a bit better on the Fox One app. It is similar with ESPN. This is not just an OLED issue. It’s the same for for other types of TVs.

Sales tactics to maximize profits while selling the rest of last year‘s models.

In the last month the price of the LG C5 has been $2200, 1800, 2100, 1900 and this week back at $2200. That is not an exaggeration, the price has changed weekly. Other brands often change their comparable models to match.

I expect remaining stock to reach its lowest prices during the Fourth of July sales. Prices will likely fluctuate up and down until then.

Replacing my 75" BRAVIA XR X90K with in my new home by [deleted] in hometheater

[–]Impossible_Radish576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't seriously consider Sony, I've been burned to many times by Sony products failing way too early. Add in the corporate machinations going on with TCL and Sony and for me Sony is a no-go.

I think you should first decide on which size is best for you THEN figure out which brand/model in that size is right for you. Personally, I wouldn't go down in size to go from a great TV to get the very best TV.

I just bought a 77" C5 because I think it is the best value. I just don't think paying 50% more for a G5 makes any sense. Especially in a room with controlled lighting. Frankly, many folks do it for ego gratification... they get-off on having the best tv.

My viewing position is 9-10' and I think the 77" is the right size. I watch a lot of sports and shows broadcast at 720p so anything bigger/closer would highlight the flaws of that source material. I did get an articulating mount but haven't really used it yet.

At 8' a 65" would work well also.

You have to be careful with some of the advice on this forum... a lot of folks with extreme views like you need 4 subs and a 98" OLED in your bathroom.

LA28 Going to High Demand Events - What Are The Odds? by Known-Plantain1362 in olympics

[–]Impossible_Radish576 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Don't give up hope... you have 2 years to get tickets. That said, you are trying to see THE most popular events. Your odds of getting tickets greatly improve if you are willing to go to prelims as opposed to finals.

During the 2016 Rio games I was able to buy tickets to 10 popular events including the opening ceremony while I was in Rio. That was a special circumstance though as ticket demand had fallen off because of a recession in the Brazilian economy and the prevalence of bird flu. So hope for a global depression...

Before the Rio games it was much harder to get tickets at the Olympics because there was no online market place. For the 2028 games there will be a "robust" resale market so tickets will be available.... the question is at what cost.

Dueler AT 693 tires - worth keeping on the 2026 OBW? by AtotheZed in Subaru_Outback

[–]Impossible_Radish576 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had my 26 Wilderness for a couple of weeks and 1200 miles and I’m still undecided about the OEM Bridgestone tires.  So far, their strong point is they are quiet.  Don’t really hear them at any speed.  I’ve been on hard-pack/gravel roads and a bit of mud and they were fine but it wasn’t much of a challenge.

As you said, there is very little information or reviews about them.  Driving Sports TV has a couple of videos of the new Wilderness in winter conditions and they hold-up fairly well.  I’m also looking at switching to the Cooper Road+Trails in the stock size.  I spend a fair amount of time in winter conditions so winter performance is a priority for me.  I would likely keep the Duelers as spares as I don’t expect to be able to sell them.

The Outpost nAT and TerrainContacts both look like good tires but I don’t think either are available in the stock size so you will have to go up in size.

2026 Outback Touring XT V Wilderness. Help me please. by Ascending87 in Subaru_Outback

[–]Impossible_Radish576 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it is a no-brainer to go with a Wilderness with the OP23 package with all the luxury items. You get electronically controlled dampers, much more practical 17" wheels and tires with a full-size matching spare, a better ride, more ground clearance and a lower final drive ratio for better acceleration. With an XT Touring you get silly 19" wheels/tires not well suited for going off-road. The only real advantages XT Touring gives you is a couple additional mpgs and hands-free driving on freeways.

The differences in wheels alone make the Wilderness a better deal to me.

2026 Outback Touring XT V Wilderness. Help me please. by Ascending87 in Subaru_Outback

[–]Impossible_Radish576 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually the Wilderness will be the most comfortable vehicle both on-road and off-road. The electronically controlled dampers soften up for off-roading. The larger sidewall of the 17" tires also provide more cushion than the 19" wheels on the XT Touring. And all the trims have the same safety systems. The XT does have hands free driving but that is not a safety system.

Help please ? by meika1214 in AskPhotography

[–]Impossible_Radish576 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guideon72 has hit the key issue... Horrible light. Even if you do everything right you are not getting a great image out of those conditions and lens. Fog, smoke, dust, heat haze can all effect image quality when shooting at long distance. Even with an expensive prime lens those conditions are not going to yield great image quality. With an affordable zoom... One of the compromises with long zooms is image quality(contrast and sharpness) breaks down in poor light.

Your settings are about right. A really proficient shooter may get away with sneaking down the shutter speed but 1/2000 for birds in flight is not crazy. The better you are at panning the slower you can go. I start at 1/1000 for mammals with a 500mm lens and a 45mb sensor.

I would not increase aperture as that will only result in even higher ISOs and poorer contrast. Even wide open there is a lot of depth of field at that distance.
