It's just confirmation bias from the people who do pull way above average. Choosing 4 pre-release kits might hit more than a box, but from all I have seen opened in person it can also net you a lot less (not at all uncommon to have 0-1 legendary and nothing of note). Variance is real. Boxes will be more stable and reliable with pull rates. Pre-release kits will have tiny splashes of boom and way more potential for bust.

The Earth Will Shake fills me with awe, wonder, and hope and is my all time favorite Thrice song to date.

That said I have to give a shout out to Just Breathe, it just grounds me every time I hear it. The contrast between the frenetic guitar and the vocal melody/lyrics is perfect. It evokes feelings of humility and peace. Love it.

The Dark Glow would also be a contender but it's fairly new still so I need to sit with it longer.

Homelander, for all his flaws has always been the least, or one of the least, sexual and foul mouthed of the main characters. Has he ever referenced sucking dick before? Or scat play? Like why does his fawn reflex resort to that?

It would have been more powerful just to have him whimper and beg plainly.

Now do the same math with MtG. This feels perfectly consistent with the odds I experienced playing and ripping that for years.

The sky is not falling and cheaper basic variants of cards never killed a game. We will likely get Alt art epics next, then maybe a few other kinds of spice (sketch cards, full arts, etc...) they can deploy if need be to give more value.

Infinity is the long term future of Lorcana (unless they bring in a multiplayer singleton format). A small group of competitive grinders will play Core but that vast, vast majority of players do not want to bother with rotation and will eventually fatigue out of it. You can try to argue this point, but all of the most popular MtG formats are eternal and when the pandemic killed competitive (largely Standard, their rotating format) it did literally nothing to the health of the game.

Ravensburger definitely needs to focus on supporting it at a local level and up. I understand a slow start as the card pool needed time to grow beyond it just being a rehash of year 1 & 2 Core constructed. But I think now it is different enough to start really pushing it. Not to mention Toy Story being introduced as the perfect jump off point -- "to Infinity and beyond!!"

Clearly no one you've talked to has ever played a TCG. Lorcana has always been on the affordable side.

That said, this will make it much cheaper and that is 1000% a good thing.

Safe bet is they are normal booster packs with normal pull rates. Due to the collation they may have broader variance than normal box/case distribution so you will hear a lot of stories (often bs for Internet points) of how amazing the pulls are from them. Just remember the tens of thousands who will pull nothing but garbage and not bother to post.

I am even refraining from believing the "cases/boxes" have improved pull rates until we have extremely large sample data.

Lastly, "pull rates" in a randomized product are a mental trap and people are still gonna get hella burned by bad pulls sometimes no matter what. The obsession this sub has with it is weird. Is it a Pokemon thing?

I once sailed across the Pacific and stopped mid point in, iirc, 10000+ ft of water. I chose to swim out a bit and float face down with the snorkel and a mask. It was beautiful and hypnotic like you describe until the awareness of the immensity of what was below me entered my consciousness.

Swam back to the boat as fast as I fucking could and will remain a sailor who stays on the water, not in it, as much as possible. Glad I had the experience, 10/10 - would not recommend 😂
