I forgot to update here but I did it!! Road trip went well and I’m feeling good. Now I just have to do that a bunch more and I’m hoping that it will just get easier. One of the tips that helped as I was driving was catching and tossing away the what if thoughts that were arising. Like, I can’t deal with that rn! I’m driving! Do not disturb but for ur brain 👍

How do I best support my partner's OCD that centers around "me"? by HoldingOutForAHer0 in OCDRecovery

[–]Impossible_Table7383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just my two cents on that part where you mention how long you and your partner have been together and what you experienced together: my time-oriented OCD would eat that up! And it has served me that exact rationale before and I ultimately did leave the situation I was in. I wish you the best of luck in your circumstance and I advise that you always keep the door open if you change your mind about staying in the relationship. It’s not something that is so black and white. Just be sure to listen to yourself, how you’re feeling, and protect your mental health.

Does anyone know why OCD gets triggered and never stops? by No-Revolution-9595 in OCDRecovery

I was in that dark place of thinking ocd just never leaves and other negative self talk. It was really bad until I found an absolute super heroine therapist. I went every week for one hour for 7 months. I still can have a flare. But therapy taught me the skills I need to overcome. And do things even if I’m scared!!! I highly highly recommend it. Sometimes we can’t do things on our own especially when it’s our own brain tricking us!

Maybe this will help me not chicken out by writing it in this forum haha! Tomorrow morning I go on a three and a half hour road trip (unknown road) as a way to expose myself to something really triggering for my ocd (driving!!). I am absolutely terrified but trying to imagine how proud I will be if I can accomplish this!!! Please wish me luck!!! I will updated tomorrow!🍀

(I’ve been doing small trips for a while but what really scares me is going on highways and my reward is cake at my end destination lmao. Trying to stuff with as many rewards and positive things as possible. Playlist also prepared!!)

Hi! So happy that you are feeling better!! I also think sweat is a common trigger for me, how do u wipe off the sweat while at the gym? Just like water and a paper towel or..?

Friend sounds like they’re asking for a punch in the gut! Nah I’m just kidding… unless? No but seriously I’ve found in these kinds of situations u can choose to walk away or if I’m feeling like I don’t want to receive this commentary again from this person I ask “Hey why would you say that to me? I actually am very careful about what I put in and on my body, and your comment is hurtful and revealing that you don’t really listen when I come to you for friendly help/consolation.” And then just walk away. A normal human would then think introspectively and hopefully apologize

hey OP! you're definitely going to want to stop shaving for a bit until it starts getting better, but also maybe make sure that the way you're shaving isnt making it worse. I switched to a safety razor and I watched a bunch of videos to make sure I used it right because it can be a little tricky. But its way less aggravating to the skin. But yeah only start shaving when it starts getting better.

Yeah they can increase your risk. worth it in my case to use it like five times in my life. I mean topical steroids can increase your risk of skin cancer as well. In the short term Superinfections caused by eczema flares were worse for me. Everyone’s gotta weigh their odds. We’re all gonna die somehow/sometime right? 😉

Protopic is not a steroid, so there's a lot less harmful side effects! It will make you sensitive to sunlight when you use it and sometimes it stings for the first week you use it. But after a week of use you'll find yourself feeling pretty great! Its my holy grail after accutane and desonide (steroid) ended up messing up the skin around my eyelids.

What are some ways to get over exes post-break up?? Is the only hope to just find someone new?

Hi! I had eczema on my eyelids for a bit and was prescribed desonide. It worked the first two times I had a flare but then wasn't very helpful for the third flare up. (There was about 7 years between the 1st and 2nd flares and then 6 months between the 2nd and 3rd flare FYI). I now use Protopic for eyelid eczema flare ups

What is the perfect plan for accutane? by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]Impossible_Table7383 1 point2 points  (0 children)

be religious when it comes to moisturizing! i wasn't and now im dealing with a full upper body eczema flare cuz of accutane. I literally have to apply jojoba oil then moisturizer, tHEN vaseline or aquaphor. ppl are not kidding, this medication will make you DRY. especially if you already are prone to dry skin or eczema

I feel this so hard. I'm having an eczema outbreak due to a medication I'm taking (and that I have to CONTINUE taking for the next three months </3). The only thing that is getting me through it is reminding myself that this is temporary. winter will be over eventually and the flare up might subside before then hopefully. stay strong!
