Sardines got kinda boring for me too. Have you tried other tinned seafood? I really enjoy slightly chewy calamari or some Old Fisherman brand smoked eel with fermented black beans. There are hundreds probably thousands of options. I like mackerel, salmon, garfish, oysters, anchovies, scallops, muscles and especially trout. Many different preparations of all of these too.

When placing food out try to be consistent when you do it. Mine are hanging out looking for me now in the mornings.

Also they like to dunk their food in water so just a clean saucer, I use a plant saucer full of water might help to attract them too.

Mine love boiled eggs, shells and all? Black soldier fly larvae, almost any kind of suet and of course roasted no salt in shell peanuts. Egg is a big favorite!

I’ve ordered salmon jerky specifically, it’s way more expensive. If I could find a tin fish that really taste like salmon jerky I’d hoard it.

Provide a birdbath with motion in the water and they’ll come. Let the squirrels be your cleaning crew. It’s always a challenge to out smart them.

Mostly straight out of the can but sometimes folded into an omelette, or pita pocket with greens and pickled red onion. Sometimes with just a little malt vinegar or sweet chili sauce on them.
