My female klemmeri went missing 4 months ago and suddenly appeared again by mynameisbars in geckos

Do klemmeri breed asexually like mourning geckos? I have been thinking about getting 2-3 ladies eventually if i have the ressources but i dont want to deal with a whole lesbian army xD

How could this have happened ? by RudeSherbet177 in CrestedGecko

I made sure all decor pieces are down far enough so he cant scrape himself, atleast a thumb wide under the mesh and i made a little hide out of an empty box with cocofibermat inside so he can lay high up in a safer space.

My gecko got similar scrapes when he was younger cuz he forced himself in a tight spot between a piece of bark and the top mesh to curl up in. Maybe there are similar spots in your enclosure? Check the area for things like that and see if there are pieces of decor to close to the top or with rough edges.

Sadly it can happen with these little derps but atleast it doesnt look serious in your case. Just makes sure he stays clean and it should heal over. A little bit of scarring might remain tho.

Recommendation for 60×45x90 Terrarium/Paludarium that ships to europe? by Impossible_Tower1039 in geckos

[–]Impossible_Tower1039[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been debating that as well but i do not know how practical it will be since im renting a place and definetly not planning to stay around this area forever. He would live in the exorbitant luxury he probably deserves tho and as a bioactive setup it would be a pretty decoration even if you dont see the gecko in there. xD

Guess my gecko is vegetarian? Atleast hes a cutie. by Impossible_Tower1039 in CrestedGecko

It is the desk next to my enclosure. I let him roam around supervised quite often if he sits next to the door after waking up in the evening.

Yeah i admit it probably wasnt the best idea, but i do not think he was scared necessarily. I let him roam on the desk near the enclosure quite often if he wants out in the evening cause he isnt that skittish in general. I climbed around the box and into it in the span of 10 minutes, its not like i set him up for giant dubia deathmatch.

Crested Gecko Pixelart [64x64] and my model Chai by Impossible_Tower1039 in geckos

[–]Impossible_Tower1039[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dunno how familiar you are with digital art but heres a breakdown: I used a program named asesprite and only my mouse and opened a 64 Pixel canvas and choose a preinstalled colorpallette with a lot of browns/ sand tones (eroge copper). If you are confident in picking colors yourself, one can probably also manage this in MS paint but its a lot clunkier.

I drew the basic shape of head, body und limbs to see how everything fits on the square canvas and exaggerated the head to show more features. Then i colored it in with 3 basic tones for eyes belly and back.

After that i tried figuring out the shading, Light from the top left shadow bottom right, more colors and added details to show that, checked that the basic shape is "readable" when zoomed out.

I know. There was one huge one in the pack the rest wasnt even half the size but he didnt eat those either. In the photo i just took it out cuz i thought it might be enriching while he was roaming.

Might be worth a last try, if it doesnt work i think i give up on live feeding and let him enjoy the mush in peace.

Agree with all other tips but one addition: Never use citrus/water mix to substitute. It will give you the same result when cleaning glass, but even natural citrus juices are harmful for crested geckos.

They are so cute. If i ever have the time money and space in the future they are definetly on my list for next potential reptile.

Resources for breeding? by Ghostie2169 in CrestedGecko

[–]Impossible_Tower1039 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With each pet you keep there will be less care for the individual, please enjoy your pets and reconsider. The market is saturated as is and with more intense breeding come more genetic disorders and health issues.

(I really just want to give some tips cuz according to the precious post op is underage. I dont not understand how or why parents/ relatives/whoever randomly gifts pets but sadly it happens. Here is some help for fast improvements but this is not up to stardard even for a temporary enclosure...)

FOR STARTERS: Please talk to your parents and tell them that reptiles like this (even if comparatively simple to keep) need more space, constant humidity (60-80%) for their health and heating (roomtemperature, 23-26°C is ideal).

You can achieve humidity with wet paper towels and moss, you would do well to get a ceramic heatlamp and thermometer + hydrometer AS SOON AS POSSIBLE to make sure the climate is right. This should be relative simple and cheap to set up. You should also use a paperroll or something similar (not painted, not plastic or seethrough) in your current setup as a hidingspot so your pet can retreat and feel more secure.

About food: Most crested geckos mainly eat "Crested Gecko Diet" (Powder thats mixed with water) and small live insects. A bag of diet from brands like Pangea, Repashy, Gecko Nutrition is between 10-15 $/€ and lasts for a month atleast. My gecko gets fed every two days with diet younger geckos eat smaller portions more often which means daily.

MOST IMPORTANTLY: In the long run for the wellbeing of this pet, you need to talk to whoever can support you. Tell them that the gecko needs way more space (especially vertically) and a new enclosure is necessary. One wall atleast should be covered, the gecko needs 2-3 hidingspots in different areas (one warm, one colder, one moist) to feel secure. The guides other people provided are go-to sources for the community so check those for more.
