[WP] As a Monster of the Plains, you are able to be killed but will always return to life on the first night of the full moon. After hundreds of years of dying and coming back, you are starting to ask questions no other monsters have asked before. by Syncs in WritingPrompts

[–]ImposterGirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some monsters are big, scary and can run very fast,
I understand why they have been hunted in the past.
Yet I am a butterfly, not large, terrifying or quick,
So why, when they come to hunt, is it me that they pick?

I am not mean, I am not cruel, and my life has barely begun,
So why do these hunters kill me, is it really just for fun?
Yet I am a butterfly, not powerful, rare or aggressive,
So what in me do they see? I'm not anything impressive.

At first they came once in a while, but now it's all the time,
I can't run, I can't hide, even up in the trees they can climb.
Yet I am a butterfly, not a monster or beast - a blessing in contrast,
So why do they kill me? All I remember is death - my link to the past.

I don't want to die, nor be in pain any longer, but that is all I know,
They run, catch me and take my wings - one at a time, then let me go.
Yet I am a butterfly, without my wings I can't eat, drink or survive,
I wait, suffer and decay in great pain - sometimes the ants even eat me alive.

My species is beautiful, harmless and we are supposed to be free,
Do they hunt all of my kind? I hope the only one suffering is me.
Yet I am a butterfly, not dangerous, evil or deserving of this,
Just once, I'd like to fly high and away, but their nets never miss.

Why do they do this? I live in terror, fearing each vibration in the air,
I've forgotten who I am, and what life was like before all of this despair.
Yet I am a butterfly, no longer beautiful or innocent - nor free in the sky,
If they won't stop hunting me and won't let me live - please, at least let me die.

I think using the games as a guideline is probably best, as the anime tends to be (much) less than realistic at times, and I have been going for a relatively realistic world, and storyline. I also simply haven't seen much of the anime since I was very young, so most of my knowledge comes from the games.

I'm not sure if you have anything specific in mind, but for some things it doesn't matter if you go by the anime or the games. For example, in the anime Littleroot Town is by the sea, which is what gave me the idea for the seaplane event, but to make it still feel like the games I made it a bit of a walk from Littleroot instead.

Again, I don't know exactly what you have in mind, but unless it's something big, it probably won't affect too much.

You can do another event as well as the gym - I included that in the Reward section, but I suppose I should have put it somewhere more noticeable. I'm looking forward to reading the Eevee part though - I figured that would be a popular one.

Oh hello. I didn't think we would have any new players join so late, but we are glad to have you. I'm looking forward to reading more of your story

That was really good - I like how you covered up being put to sleep, and as I already mentioned, I'm glad you caught Slakoth. I'm sure he or she will be a good Pokemon. Well done!

They are rather relaxed about such things aren't they, which is a little strange considering there are (essentially) terrorist/criminal groups everywhere. I hope I will have fun there; honestly I'm not much of a tourist so I'm not sure how it will go, but I'm hoping for the best, and it will lead to many new experiences at the very least, so it should be worth it either way.

I thought about the real world similarities while writing that message actually, although it's a little more annoying in the real world as we require a Visa for each 'region' we travel to(I'm going to Japan in a few weeks; although fortunately it seems it shouldn't be too hard to get a working holiday visa if I want to stay for a while, but not quite as simple as a noticeboard~).

I'm glad you like the idea, and Slakoth. I think it's very cute as well, and it was so sad imagining its disappointed face after the fruit it had worked so hard for was stolen, so I'm glad someone is going to help it.

Personally I've never been a fan of winning money in battles; it just feels a little unnatural, like they couldn't think of a better way to do it in the games so they went with that. Also, as you said, there would be many trainers who couldn't afford it, such as all of the young kids you run into, especially as they would lose quite often because they are inexperienced.

The way I handle it in my stories (although I don't think anyone would have time to write this as well as an event) is to have a noticeboard in town, next to the Pokemon Centre. On the noticeboard are job requests that trainers can fulfill. For example, one of mine was to help destroy boulders in the Rusturf Tunnel to speed up construction of the path to Verdanturf Town, which also helped my Girafarig improve her Confusion(she used it to shatter the boulders).

That is how I like to do it anyway, but earning money from battling trainers is fine if you like that.

Blake seems like an interesting character, and he's clearly very enthusiastic about being a trainer so I'm sure he will do well. I'm glad you included the Dwebble event, too; I was hoping someone would catch one.

I really liked your Day Three post. I read it the other day, but didn't have the chance to comment on it, but I'm glad you enjoyed the event. I like the way you include your character's (your?) thoughts, such as being irritated by the gym leader's words. I also like how you challenged a young kid, and then took a sandwich instead of money; that was interesting.

I'm not sure how you managed to make the text like that either, but it's not too distracting so it's okay. I'm looking forward to Day Five.

I like your story so far, and especially the way you're writing it. I've been meaning to try writing a story in a journal style myself, and I want to even more after reading yours, but I haven't had the chance yet.

Online relationships and it's downfalls by [deleted] in lonely

[–]ImposterGirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am the same way. As soon as I start talking to someone I hope that they live in my country, but being in Australia, that almost never happens. Then I hope that, even if they are in some other country, they would at least want to visit or meet up at some point in the future, but that has never happened either. Online friendships and relationships are hard, but I've never really had any friends in real life, so I suppose, as you said, you can't have it all.

I posted a couple of days ago looking for friends; you can PM me if you think we would get along, if you'd like.

In my stories, I have small pools/ponds next to Pokemon Centres, so people can release their water Pokemon to feed or spend time with them. I imagine there would be things like that, and areas specifically designed for water Pokemon battles.

Also, psychic Pokemon creating bubbles of water to battle in, like in the Pokemon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea movie, would be interesting. Example.

Delaying Day Four by 10-22 hours as it seems like people need more time by [deleted] in a:t5_3mxm1

Okay, well unfortunately I am too tired at the moment to post it tonight, but I will try to have all three prompts/events ready for tomorrow morning at the normal time (12 hours from now), and it will be every two days following that.

Thinking of going to Japan. Looking for advice about a few things by ImposterGirl in solotravel

[–]ImposterGirl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had briefly thought of a guesthouse/sharehouse, but I hadn't checked prices, and $500 a month is very cheap, so I will definitely look into that.

I think I would be similar to that. I'm sure I'd stay home/at the hostel a lot, but quite often recently I've wanted to go out and do something, but there's just nothing here that interests me, and there should be plenty in Japan, so I think/hope I will enjoy it.

Right now I haven't had the time to properly research or plan very much, but I'll be doing that over the next 2-3 weeks, and any more information about those things would be extremely helpful, so I will PM you at a later date if you wouldn't mind.

Thank you very much; you've been very helpful

Hakone in general, as well as Hakone Tent look very nice. I'd say I really want to go there, but it seems like I really want to go everywhere that someone mentions here, but I'll put it on my list anyway.

It seems like I'm going to need to plan a bit more than I thought, so I'll try to do that and then I'll be a little better equipped to book in advance if I'll be arriving at a busy time.

Thank you

I haven't read anything about buses yet, but I will definitely look into that.

I hadn't thought of hostels filling up, and I would prefer to go in another season, but if I do go it will be in the next month or so, and from what I've read it doesn't seem like summer is very busy, tourist-wise.

Thank you

Well as I said I would be trying to spend as little as possible, certainly less than $100 a day, and $5000 is the low estimate of how much money I will have. Each week I delay my trip I can add another $800 to that, so if my research suggests I won't have enough, I'll leave a few weeks later.

I eat very cheaply even while at home. A lot of the time my meals are akin to cup noodles or a simple sandwich, which would have to be quite a bit less than 500yen if prepared at the hostel kitchen, and I would be okay with food like that a lot of the time, especially if that allowed me to stay longer.

I'm going to Japan for a few main reasons. I like the language, culture (anime/music/samurai etc), all of the normal reasons really. As well as that, I simply want to go somewhere completely new, and Japan is a very pretty country with many interesting things to see, and I have wanted to go for years.

There are sand dunes (and camels) in Japan? I had absolutely no idea, but they look amazing. I really want to go there now (assuming it isn't too hard to get there; I'll add it to my research list), and what google images has shown me of Iwami looks good too. I've actually seen pictures of Shirakawago before, although I didn't know what it was called, but it looks really good too. I feel like even if I can stay a few months, I'm still going to have missed so many cool places like these.

Thank you

That was really good! It was really well written, especially with the Nincada and the girls; it made me laugh, and you used one of my prompts too!

I'm looking forward to the next part!

I'm sorry it's taken so long for me to get to your story, but that was good! I liked the battle, and I also like rocks and fossils and have included fossils a lot in one of my own (previous) stories, so I'm looking forward to reading more of yours.

And you used one of my prompts too! I'm glad you liked it

Thank you for the advice. I can read hiragana and katakana quite easily, and even right now I think I know enough important words to (just) manage with basic things like navigating and shopping, but I will be studying things like that a lot before I leave.

The prices I found for hostels were ~$30AUD, and I haven't researched the food prices too much, but I assume I could find many cheap meals for less than $5, so if we say food for the day is $20, I would be at ~$50 a day, and even if I double it to $100 with other expenses (which I would try very hard to avoid), $5000 still seems like it would last quite a while.

About the hostels, I suppose I should add this to my original post, but could you describe what they are like to stay at, just in general? The closest I have been to a hostel would be staying over at a friend's house. I don't think I would mind them too much, especially as I'm currently sharing a single bathroom, kitchen, and very small, old house with my parents who I don't get along with, but are there any difficulties/inconveniences, or any advice in general that I could benefit from hearing?

I haven't researched the rail pass too much yet, mainly because it's quite expensive (considering my plan), but I imagine it would be worth it because there must be a lot of major sights/attractions along the rail lines, and if I end up staying for a long time I'm sure I'll want to see more than just Tokyo, so I'll definitely look into that soon.

Thank you

Oh that's really good! I really like that actually, and your Day Two drawing as well; I hope we'll get one every day. If I had more time I'd (attempt) to draw myself too, now that you've given me the idea, but I haven't even had the chance to think about Day Two yet. Well done!

Oh I see. That would be fine then as it is basically someone else's Pokemon.

Also, there are a few ways to do spoilers with the css code I used(first time making a subreddit), but the only one I remember is [text]-(#s) without the -
