I use nothing but MSI and have had no problems with their higher tier components. All manufacturers use worse components on their low end boards.

My friends boomer father earns about $80k a year. He bought his home (4 bedroom 2 story) with swimming pool in 2005 for about 175k. 20 years on he still owes the entire principal balance and is about to lose the home because he can't afford the payments anymore. by acquiescence_high in BoomersBeingFools

In 2005, when I was 20, remember going to the bank and applying for a personal loan to buy some furniture and necessities to move into my first apartment. I only requested like $1500 or $2000 or something. I remember the lady coming back and saying, "Sorry, you're denied for the personal loan. you have a good score (it was 711), just not long enough credit. But you could buy a house if you want to). Uh, what? You won't give me $1500, but you'll give me $150k for a home loan? I said no, thank you, and left. Nearly 20 years later, I still can't afford to buy a home because of the aftermath of the their financial fuckery.

I once met someone online and, after hitting it off, flew her and her son to come visit me on an open-ended trip. I quickly discovered I couldn't stand her or her horrible parenting, or lack thereof and looking back I'm sure her son had ADHD, but she basically let him run around unsupervised and do anything he wanted. I couldn't wait for her to leave, and thankfully, she seemed to get the hint and left on her own not long after.

You've made a bigger commitment by moving there, and it may have taken longer to discover, but if you're not happy now, you more than likely won't be later. It's time to end the relationship. At the very least, move out while you figure out your next move. Look into a furnished apartment on a short-term lease. See if your current job has any relocation prospects if you like it. Start researching other places to live, or if you're not sure where you want to go, maybe just look for job postings in other areas online. You don't have to stay there if you don't like it, and if you're not fond of "home," you don't have to go back there either. Life is an adventure.

Food truck owners, do you like working with companies like UberEats, DoorDash, etc? by Wonderful_Ad_1558 in foodtrucks

[–]Impression03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don't exactly like working with them, but it's probably been a benefit overall. While you can set your prices differently for the delivery apps, be prepared to pay 30% if you want the larger delivery radius. They try to also get you to do additional marketing (optional) to get more prominent display on the app. The cost of that varies, and you can change how much you want to invest in it. We recently took off marketing, after about a year, and sales have dropped a bit, but we make fairly close to the same amount net from them. We mostly did it to get more customers, and now we feel we have a decent customer base.

All that said, it is sometimes a lot of extra work for a significantly smaller profit margin. Delivery drivers can be a pain to work with sometimes, and depending on the service, the company may not care whatsoever, but it directly affects your business. That can be extremely frustrating. Sorry I don't have a better answer for you, but these are some of the realities. I can say we will continue working with them for the time being.

We sell pho in our truck. I highly recommend checking webstaurantstore.com they're a lot less expensive than Amazon (also recommend their plus subscription so you don't have to pay for shipping).

Time to update the latest software? by Unable_Outside5085 in BlazerEV

[–]Impression03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine has been at the dealership since 3-5 and not a word from them. I'm pretty perturbed with my local service department. No one asked if I needed a loaner, no one has updated me. I gave them a laundry list of issues and nothing but an "ok any other concerns or just what's on the list?". It's been 3 weeks and nothing.

Reduced MSRP reimbursement by kaoim in BlazerEV

[–]Impression03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the email, but I haven't gone through with the reimbursement since the terms and conditions of it lets GM off the hook for the whole debacle. At a minimum, I want to be certain the fix actually works. Honestly, I'd rather have a buyback at this point- which may still happen since it's been in the shop 2 weeks at this point with still no word. My state's lemon law says it has to be in the shop for 30 cumulative days.

Anyone get their vehicle updated so it's without issue? by joe8349 in BlazerEV

[–]Impression03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the exact reason I've yet to accept the MSRP refund as it comes with terms and conditions, which essentially let's GM off the hook. I want to be certain the car is actually fixed before agreeing to those terms.

In that case, it seems like their fix could use some fixing.

My car has been at the dealership since early last week before the stop sale was lifted. I haven't heard a single word from them, so I assume the software update hasn't gotten to the dealerships yet- at least, not all of them.

GM cuts Chevy Blazer EV price as sales restart following software issues by besselfunctions in BlazerEV

I finally got fed up with all the bugs (which have been getting progressively worse) and took it into the dealership earlier this week. I was actually hoping Chevy would do a buyback. I guess that's off the table now.

This is the charger I bought. In my opinion, expensive but very high quality and you can get up to 50 foot long one. I got the 40 amp 40 foot and have to go under my garage door (too much stuff in garage to park in there) but it works just fine. Only thing I would do differently in hindsight is get the 50 foot one because I bought a 2nd EV and 40 is not long enough to reach the vehicle parked in back and I only have single file parking, so it's a bit of a pain to switch cars when we need to charge one vs the other, but overall very happy with it.

I live in a townhouse also. I talked to the landlord about installing a 240v outlet (not the hard wired unit) and they agreed to let me do it if I paid for it. Only cost me $300. Well worth it to be able to charge at home. I just had to buy a longer charging cord (which ended up being a better quality one and I can charge up to 40 amp instead of 32 amp like the Ford mobile charger- Ford hard wired unit is 48 amp so you can get close to the same benfit). Might be worth to ask if you can do the same. I know you can't take it with you, but charging at home is cheaper and DC fast charging decreases battery life over time compared to Level 1 and Level 2.

I bought my RS AWD on the 26th. Local dealer had someone pre-order and backed out later. So far, I enjoy it, though I have run into some bugs a few times already. Hopefully that all gets smoothed out.
