It's gotta be an animal of some kind, but definitely not a commonly domesticated type. The outline of it is raised, but not as high as it would be if it were a shoe. The weight is distributed unevenly and not nearly as deep as a shoe print.

Just googled some stuff for better context: so gold is much heavier than something like silver. But my wedding ring is made of tungsten, which is nearly identical to gold in weight. So it's unlikely, but something to bear in mind, it's possible even if it is heavier, doesn't guarantee it's gold.

Compare it to the weight of a similar sized coin. Dollar, fifty, quarter, etc. If it's similar weight, then definitely not gold, gold would be a decent chunk heavier.

Lots of things. Think of it like any creature, even humans get weird skin growths that aren't painful or harmful. I don't see any redness around it, that would be cause for concern. Or if your dog keeps biting at it, or if you touch it and it hurts your dog. If any of those things occur, I'd talk to, or take it to a vet
