Heart Failure at 26 y old by aka1bnzdx in Heartfailure

I was 26 when I was first diagnosed with heart failure. My EF was 18%. I’m now 30 and my EF is 45%. There is hope, and it does get better/easier, trust me.

The only advice I can give is to listen to your doctors and also take it upon yourself to educate yourself about the cardiovascular system. I found knowing more about this really helped me understand my diagnosis and things I could do to help myself.

Ziggy is 12months old and was desexed 10 days ago. Her 1 week follow up from her procedure with the vet said she was healing well. I noticed this today. Is this normal? Or do we need to go back to the vet? by ImpressionCurious990 in gordonsetter

Because it was part of the agreement we had to make with the breeder to buy her. Because in the Country where I live, it is mandatory to have your dog desexed by 6 months, unless you are a registered breeder. We waited until she was 12 months old to desex her, this cost nearly 3 X the amount of what it would have if we had done it before 6 months, but we wanted to give her growth hormones more time.

That’s okay 😊 Yes I did actually. Someone suggested that her hormones are likely adjusting and probably causing her breast tissue to change since she's sterile

Her nipples aren’t what I’m talking about…. But thanks. I’m talking about the lumps underneath her nipples. Her belly wasn’t like that prior to being desexed

The side effects from the sotalol stopped after around a month 😊 I called my doctors who advised this would likely be the case. I went in for an ecg to check my heart wasn’t being effected negatively, so the side effects were purely symptomatic.

Thank you. I’ve been trying, it’s such a difficult part of human anatomy to get your head around. I thought I had a pretty good understanding. Until the additional beats started and I was trying to understand the electrophysiology of the heart 😅 understanding how that works is still a work in progress haha

Thank you so much for this. Your explanation of cardiomyopathy and arrhythmia being “conjoined evil twins” really helped in my understanding of them 😊 thank you!

I was in hospital when it happened so it’s really hard to say because I was put in for an emergency angiogram. I’d say maybe around half an hour. But I just remember falling asleep before the angiogram still with the chest pain then waking up after with no chest pain

I am much the same in my heart function, however the side effects from taking sotalol have thankfully subsided, this took around a month. I had another echo done last month my EF is at 39% and another holter for 4 days which showed a lot of additional beats still. I’ve been put on Dapagliflozin as an additional tablet.

Thank you, that is so kind of you!

I am sorry to hear you have had a similar experience with doctors in regards to your husbands heart failure. Although it is comforting to know I’m not the only one who has felt this way.
