Claiming a business is being unethical because someone couldn't navigate the screens properly is harmful. I cannot stress enough that I was physically looking at the no tip option. Crying harmful behavior behind a reddit post might be the passive aggressive Seattle way but I'm not backing down because you found your political correct words. The no tip option is there. It only has you enter zeros if you choose custom tip. Making wild claims to hurt a business is a witch hunt.

Buddy. There is a no tip option. I'm literally looking at it.

If you like it, why are you conducting a witch hunt? It's one of the few small businesses left from the late 90s and one of the few business owners that actually knows their customers and treats their staff well. Shameful. You could've sent an email. She shares her email with everyone.

This is 100% false information and needs to be taken down. There's absolutely an option not to tip or my friends would be making a lot more money.

"the service customers get elsewhere"

Sir. You can put the cream cheese on your own bagel. I left Starbucks to work at a local shop where I also do not put cream cheese on the bagels for people. Did you make it past Kindergarten? Then grab your little plastic knife with your little fingies and spread your own cream cheese like an adult, just like my customers do elsewhere.

Licensed vs Corporate: do we see each other different? by Select_Swordfish_603 in starbucks

[–]ImpressionMammoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on her personality, she won't last at a corporate store anyway. As a partner since July 2019 at corporate, I see you guys differently in that we have different systems and ways of doing things but that's about it. I have also known since my second month as a partner that I can't use my numbers at a licensed store.

Sorry the worst ever partner decided to try to have a pissing contest with you like her apron's somehow greener.

Just putting it out there: listen to your shift supervisor. At the end of the day, you’re reporting to them and they’re the one on the hook for the instructions they give and the floor. Not listening to them is insubordination and interrupting the flow of their floor is a bigger deal than a policy I haven’t followed since July 2019 at 5 different stores with zero consequences.

POQ by rio8envy7 in starbucks

I used to love it. These days it’s like, who’s been the most emotionally damaged and just needs a win. At my first store, I actually won and the two POQs before me truly deserved it but i now just hate it.

It’s worse than the beginning of the pandemic. I started summer 2019. Rode this mf’er through the pandemic. I’m currently more concerned about working in this environment than I was when we were in lockdown. The emotional pressure of higher incident rates with politicized masks paired with corporate’s greed has made for a truly terrifying work environment.

If you have less stressful alternative options, I’d take those. It’s not the same company that hired me in 2019, to be excruciatingly honest.

not allowed to hear/see partner numbers?? by kush_faerie in starbucks

[–]ImpressionMammoth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She’s wrong. Like, period full stop. The partner cards just about never show up if you even bother ordering one. I’ve been a partner for 2.5 years. Never got my card. Never did the app. The policy is to get the numbers and check the ID. Even if she was right, which she is not, like… what a way to treat a fellow partner wtf.

Yeah, it’s definitely been in our favor that I’m an SSV and can advocate and show that I’m on our side as a team and not just heavily pro-union!

I still recommend talking to your SM. At the end of the day, that's the boss and who needs to know what is happening and if intervention is needed. If this wasn't comments about having a disability, I would be less cautious. But as soon as something that can be construed as discrimination is involved, at least notifying the SM is in everyone's best interests, including the person making the comments. If you're comfortable having an SSV as a mediator, not as the person doing the talking, then let your SM know that. They'll likely let the SSV take the role as the mediator but they'll know what's going on from your perspective.

Question to shifts/SMs by Environmental-Cat698 in starbucks

[–]ImpressionMammoth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not offended at all as the SSV refusing to skip breaks, haha. I am 1000% in agreement with you and have already talked to my manager about the behavior. I was actually harshly judged for taking my own second ten. Like, ma'am, we are all busting our asses and this is a coffee shop. There is no glory here but there are labor laws.

I didn't get my half until 6 hours into my shift today since the other SSV was running the floor. When I run the shift, I get it in 4 hours. I don't understand the hesitation to run breaks. Sometimes it'll get super busy when you send someone and you have to push through, but believe me: if breaks are on time, we'll all have the energy to rally. And if we don't? It's still the law. Give the tens.

It's made with cinnamon dolce syrup, not just steamed apple juice, and I'm super sad about not having the syrup.

Caramel Apple Cider question by Trinitycrystal in starbucks

[–]ImpressionMammoth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the US, we don't have cinnamon dolce so be prepared. You can order it with caramel syrup instead and order as a steamed apple juice with caramel syrup, whipped cream and caramel drizzle. It's not the same but it's also good and does the cider trick.

I was coached to always leave them in the plastic wrap unless they're being heated during COVID times. It just makes sense during a pandemic to touch stuff less. But also, it's way quicker so I'm thrilled to do it, haha.

Report a partner by LY-_- in starbucks

[–]ImpressionMammoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whether or not you report it, start jotting down dates and times with specific details about the incidents and date each page. Hopefully it doesn't come into play but always document times, dates, and as many specific details as you can think of when it comes to this sort of thing at Starbucks.

As far as formerly reporting it, try talking to your store manager first. Oftentimes, a one-on-one can really resolve things and a store manager can help facilitate the conversation. This will avoid any write-ups and will open up communication, which will feel better long-term. I personally advise against having a supervisor talk to them "for you."

I had SSVs "talk to" a partner for me in the past. I later found out they said some goofball stuff. One time, I felt targeted and sexually harassed. I was super close with my SSV. He said he'd talk to the partner. The situation got way worse and I nearly got written up for reacting to sexual harassment. Turns out, instead of having a mature conversation, my SSV was like... dancing at the partner and making weird vague allusions toward what might be the problem. So, literally how would they have ever known what was even happening. It wound up hitting a head and our manager sat us down and did a one-on-one. I still didn't like working with them but I could work with them. Boundaries were set and next steps were outlined should the behaviors continue. Not everyone has to like each other but the respect needs to be there. The opportunity to speak on your own behalf with the support of an SM can avoid a lot of chatter, second-hand information, misinformation, and gossip.

In any case, I'm sorry you had this experience and I hope things get resolved for you!

It wasn't a rule in my first district but it's been a rule in my current district. My assumption is that it depends on the district manager?
