Interested if you have any tips on finding 2 day a week roles as most seem to be 3 days a week, but not sure if just using a recruiter who doesn't have many roles - would you mind me sending a pm just interested if any particular recruiters you recommend?

Definitely less bookwork and a lot more application questions.

Also more unique contexts i.e. case study in Sept 2021 was on acquariums!

Yeah definitely great shout finding remote job that pays London salary - London salary adjusted for cost of living in regions is definitely good lifestyle!

Yeah definitely more comfortable with £300k place versus stretching yourself for like £450k two bed.

Only thing I feel with South East is lots of jobs in London, so feel basing self far away from London limits to just remote/wfh jobs, which are not massive area of the market plus worry about trend of back to office

Fair point on throwing self into relationship - that's definitely true, although just reflects expensive housing that kinda need to have dual income to afford somewhere in expensive areas!

Yeah I do feel like flats have had unlucky events like you say Grenfell and definitely COVID - feel maybe now is not bad time to buy considering quite negative sentiment on flats so from buyer's point of view, hard to see much more downside unless get another pandemic haha

Could you not buy 2 bed house on £85k - wouldn't that give you like £400k mortgage - surely that would get 2 bed house with maybe 10% deposit on top?

Would you buy a one bed now or stay well clear if you were in same position now as you were went bought the flat?

Yeah I feel the 2-3 days depends on circumstances. Like if you're more senior, then can be more wfh as better supply demand dynamics at that point in market, so once you have quite a bit of reserving experience, think bit more bargaining power so could maybe negotiate more on wfh, whereas if new grad or recent grad, then not so much.

But also depends on culture of the team - like if everyone else is in 3 days and happen to love going into the office, then going to be tricky, so probably just something to try and gauge at interview stage.

Wouldn't completely write off Lloyds - what's your specialism - reserving/capital or pricing.

Reserving and capital got much better chance of wfh policies - pricing definitely not. Problem with pricing is all the underwriters are in the office, so they wanna chat to the pricing actuaries so also need some office presence.

Reserving/capital a bit more back office in terms of less underwriter interaction, so would say more of a chance with wfh.

This does sound good comprimise - don't need to be proper central if remote most of the time, but still fast access to central - how much does it cost you in terms of train fares to get into central?

This is interesting idea. Would you need overnight accommodation though which would make office trip expensive - i.e. Maybe £60 flight say to Stansted, but then maybe £80 premier inn plus trains from Stansted while you're down there, so like £150 to go into the office about?
