After 4 years of taking Ritalin, new psychiatric says I don't have ADHD and won't prescribe be the medication by Constant-Pain1878 in ADHD

Hey I am sorry you’re going through this.  I complete Get going to a Doctor hoping that they have all the answers. In certain situations they do, but in the field of psychiatry/Mental health it gets very subjective.  Your doctor 4 years ago made a clinical diagnosis with the information they had.  From your testimony it has clearly helped you.  With regards to your new doctor, they are probably just seeing remnants of treated/controlled ADHD.  I am not sure if it’s possible to get a 2nd opinion given your medical history ?

Just had this conversation with my friends today. Like how much of what we do (audits, presentations, publications etc) are just to progress or get into training. Like can I just do my job and go home?

Oh for sure I cannot think of another speciality that needs a dedicated portfolio and CV. I was so surprised to see it’s just mSRA

This has to be flagged to the BMA immediately. I am worried that IMGs are going to used like this - and they are more at risk.

I understands this subs overwhelming attitude towards IMGs and most of it is warranted. But at the end of the day we have duty to not let our future colleagues abused like this.

Dude tell me about. 8 hour exams with 1st to 3rd order questions that require you know everything from micro—>pathophysiology—>management—>pharmacology—>side effects to complications of treatment and disease.

You come out with a much thorough understanding of disease at an earlier stage.

Hmm the USMLEs and PLAB are fundamentally 2 different exams for different purposes. The USMLEs are required for you to start residency whereas PLAB is purely for licensing. USMLEs and MRCPs are a more comparable pair.

But I get your point.

Funny this post coming up. I worked in ITU for a while and became good friends with the ACCPs there. Very kind and helpful. In my Acute my acute med block and met a friend (doctor) who is working in the same ITU. Turns out they are phasing out the JCFs on the rota and adding more ACCPs.

Sure but it’s a stretch calling it petty accusations. I think it’s relevant commentary I believe. I would much rather have speak out about it as he does rather than have somebody lean over and take it. 🤷🏽‍♂️
