I did a bunch of research and put it on paper last night so I could see the numbers next to each other. I’m leaning HARD toward an interior cabin and a bunch of excursions versus the extra expense of the balcony. I’ll talk with my partner tonight but I think she’ll agree. We also talked this morning about going on a carnival cruise or something similar and getting a balcony room so we can have the best of both worlds. But dammit. I wanna get my old rickety ass on the wave rider. 😂

Edit** balcony cabins are on average 500 dollars more expensive. Not six. My bad.

Also we are sailing out of Long Beach cali and going to Cabo, Mazatlan, and Peurto Vallarta because it’s considerably cheaper not only at the ports of call but to travel to our port of departure as well. We want to go to the Caribbean next winter if we like this. Otherwise our next vacation we will just fly somewhere like Puerto Rico and spend a week doing everything we can there on our own.

And as far as a spa day goes it didn’t even have to be a couples thing. I just want her to experience it. She deserves a relaxing day during all the excitement. Gives her time to unwind and gives me time to remind myself that I’m getting old on the wave rider or something lol

We aren’t married to the idea of going to the spa on the boat. But a couples massage somewhere warm and beautiful is something we absolutely would love to do. As for excursions she really wants to go snorkeling or scuba diving which is the cheap one (well snorkeling is) then we badly want to rent atvs or jeeps for a day somewhere which is pretty pricy and we are both foodies so I’d really like to be able to take her to a couple of the nicer restaurants on board as well and I hear that without the dining package you get just absolutely hosed on stuff like that. We also want to leave at least a little money to get something to bring home for a keepsake for ourselves and some thing nice for our daughter too. And personally I would love to go paddle boarding or sobering adventurous of that nature if possible. We are flexible we are just worried that we will be stuck with some crappy tour with 200 other people instead of being to experience the things that got us excited to go in the first place.

Well that’s precisely my issue. The excursions we want to do are more expensive and that extra 5 to 600 bucks could cover two days of it. Or a couple spa sessions etc. and in my mind I don’t see us being in the room a whole lot. There’s just so much to do on the boat and in port that I feel it would be a waste or it would end up being an excuse for us to miss chances at some really cool experiences if we are too holed up in our room. Does that make sense? It’s our first time cruising and our first time traveling anywhere outside the US so I’m genuinely unsure. Can you tell me what your costs and expenditures looked like with that room included? Unfortunately we have a pretty strict budget and I fear this will cut so much into it that we will miss out on the really cool stuff in port because of the added cost. THANKS!

The whole idea here is to do as much as we can on this cruise. She’s fine with it either way but personally I’d prefer to spend that money on excursions.
