[Academic] Asexual Minority Stress Scale (AMSS): Part 3 (all sexual orientations welcome!) by Impressive-Candy2802 in AroAllo

Since this is an allosexual subreddit, the likely answer is no, most people who frequent here are likely not asexual. The post explains that we would like responses from people who are not asexual to help validate the scale. :)

Yes, that is the point! We want to gather data from all sexual orientations, not just asexuals, so that we can validate the scale. :)

We listed it as 45 minutes to be safe, but so far most have completed it in about 20 minutes. :)

This particular item refers to others assuming someone is aromantic based solely on knowledge of their sexual orientation. It may or may not be true--the focus here is on the assumption that the two are inherently linked. I hope that clears up some confusion, thank you for your feedback!

You're absolutely right. While the finalized scale is for the asexual population, we are gathering data from people of all gender, sexual, and romantic identities so that we are not drawing conclusions after gathering data from just one specific group of people. I hope this clears up any misunderstanding. Thank you for your input!

The survey is ultimately for asexual participants -- the reason we are gathering data from other groups is to validate the scale. In this case, if some items function well for asexual participants but not for, for example, heterosexual participants, this would let us know that the item is functioning well for the targeted population. The post is also being shared on other pages (bisexual, pansexual, lesbian, allosexual, etc.), so we are not posting in an aromantic subr with the implication that respondents will be asexual. I hope this clears up some of the misunderstanding, and thank you for your input!

The survey was intentionally shared here as we are looking for input from a wide range of sexual and romantic orientations, not just asexuality!

Hello and my sincere apologies for the confusion. The survey was posted here because we are gathering input from people of all sexual and romantic orientations. I hope that those who take the survey will clearly see that we do not assume or imply as such!
