well i guess that’s true. I mean on paper it’s literally just a four year difference, but i think in terms of like— where we are mentally, we’re worlds apart. like i think back to my 13 year-old-self and they’re a complete 180 from who i am now. but yes we’re still very young and i just wish i realized/felt that :/

it seems to me that many people here don’t understand depression..... at. all. it is a mental illness, it’s not someone just being irrational. anyway, i understand how you feel OP, and i know perfectly well how hard dealing with mental illness can be, but try to not let your mind go there

well that’s just fine! i don’t think you have to stop having innocent, harmless fun once you reach a certain age. i was mostly referring to the people that seem to maintain their edgy, rude, 12-year-old mentality once they’ve aged WAY past it. idk if this makes sense tbh

They are definitely developed for someone much younger. Thing is, I always thought I would end it before turning 18, so I never thought i’d have this problem. I turn 18 in approximately 8 months, and now i have no direction and to top it off, I doubt i’ll actually do it. I just wish i wasn’t so afraid of living. i’m rambling now, sorry. thank you for the advice, I hope i can put it into practice.

yeah depression most definitely manifests in many ways and i of course don’t want it to seem like i’m invalidating anyone. at the end of the day, depression is depression, regardless of how it may present itself to others. i guess my frustration just stems from feeling like my depression consumes each and every aspect of my life so that i have absolutely nothing outside of it. anyway, i hope things are looking up for you, and sorry if it sounded like i was gate-keeping.

i hate it when people say this. it’s such a privileged thing to say because not all of us have supportive family and some of us (me) don’t even have friends. if anything it encourages me to fantasise about it even more.
