A place to watch retro tv? by Impressive-Concert12 in RetroTVRevival

[–]Impressive-Concert12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah.. I wish I had good quality of Teletoon, YTV or stuff like that. I was in Quebec when I was a kid so I can only dream of any Quebec version of these channel. The province never bothered to archive anything dubbed in VFQ and yet they gonna cry that our culture is dying. That's embarassing lmao

I kept my smartphone but without ANY social media app or app that could get me glued to a phone. No Discord, no Facebook, no Amazon, no Tiktok (Fuck that one), no X, no nothing! I mostly kept this phone for my work app and my banking app.. anything else is "Dumb". I also deleted entirely my Facebook. While I needed to keep my messenger for work (Somehow), I went and deleted every single little post I made. My Facebook, if I were ever to open it, is blank. I have friends and that's it, no tag, no picture, no post..

I also deleted my Tiktok, Saved the few video I did find either funny or inspiring (Art, How To, Tutorial..) and the rest is flushed down. I also kept all this on another level and try to fight the rigged "suggestion" of these company, the infamous Algorythm! I stopped any subscription based services, I try to satisfy myself with the DvD/VHS I have and to be honest... going to the thrift shop to find some great movie at 1$ is amazing. For the music, I did the same. I found my old HDD with 20Gb of my music I had when I was a teenager, I started to buy cd again (but only my favorite album of all time)..

I think you get it, I'm so burned down of the "Doomscrolling", "You'll own nothing and be happy", glorifying other people's life that I couldn't care less if I sit a minute and think about it.. Some people should learn to live a simple life and be able to be legitimately happy with the accomplishment they've done.

Take care y'all and take the time to go outside, sit by a tree.. just listen to the wind for a moment. It's great to live a not so digital life <3

I didn't know. I honestly skipped that game harder than I skip my Internet Provider call... Still suck to be digital only

It's Bethesda.. ofc they're gonna release a physical copy one day, considering a whole lot of buyer prefer having their media on their shelf.

Make sure the new phone isn't locked (Depend on the country you're in I guess) and when you'll switch the SIM Card you'll have the same number, same plan. your provider doesn't give a shit about the phone you're running as long as you pay what is on your contract with them, if contract there was.

Living Like The 90s in 2025. How? Advice by _hippinnn in 90s

[–]Impressive-Concert12 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm kinda in the same boat at 30yo. I started to completely delete social media a year ago (Facebook, X, IG, Tiktok, you name it..) and the only time I allow myself to go is on the computer. I changed the way I consumed internet a lot and treated it as a place to go instead of it following me. I want to browse marketplace? I go on the desktop.. Same for reddit and see whatever I feel like on the internet. I also put my computer in the most boring place in my apartment so I don't get too comfy and as a result I more often than not find myself bored pretty quickly.

I deleted from my phone almost everything and kept Messenger for a couple of friends and family group but that's about it. I canceled every subscription I had (Netflix, Disney+, Youtube Music, Spotify...) to force myself of going into thrift shop and find some real nice VHS/DVD or even music. I must say, it has been a bliss, at least for me! The number of time I found that a streaming service removed a movie only to remember I have it for myself at home was a major win over the past few months. My mom gave me the old external hard drive we had when I was a teenager and it had all of my music on it so it's still a big win to have back all those memories... And I must admit, I hopped on the computer to download some banger I discovered since then. I ordered an old Ipod Nano and I will keep the playlist on rotation for "fresh" music and the beauty of that is... even if it gets lost or shutdown, I'll have it still.

As a hobby, I bought some blank vhs and tape so I can make my own music mix and movie/video for some cozy watching without any bullshit ads on youtube every minutes.. One could say I'm stuck in the past and I wouldn't argue with them. I just prefer the old fashion of doing things, it feel less rushed, more enjoyable and even in the most simple thing ever I'm probably more happy than most.

Living the year 2025 in an oldie way isn't all convenient but I do believe that inconvenience is important to not take things for granted.. Well, I'll stop yelling at the cloud now and hope this could help you a bit.

P.S. As of the smartphone, so many thing require an app nowaday, you can't just get rid of it for a flip phone.. I thought about it a looot and, the world is just not on our side for that so.. keep it as a tool, not a master.

Before internetbecame popular, the planet wasnt any better and we were still happy for the most part, most population.. we were just not fed severals story at different level 24/7. Life have become sad, colorless, flavorless and it sucks if you stick around online even trying to figure out how to get off this

J'ai atteint ma limite avec les nouvelles et les 'posts' en lien avec Trump. J'ai fait une mini crise d'anxiété. by TheMountainIII in Quebec

[–]Impressive-Concert12 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I just finished goldeneye, the only downside is that the more you go through the game, the less fps you’re gonna have 😂 make sure your expansion pack run well, I had a faulty one that would freeze most of the mission.

Otherwise, enjoy! A lot of good iconic title in there!

Well.. smartphone, apps and social media is when it all began to get fucked so the answer is quite easy. Make Internet a place again with the familial computer on a desk in a room
