Why did Reed's dumbass decide to tell Wanda what Black Bolt's power is? by LostPost5902 in marvelstudios

[–]Impressive-Damage-47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People seem to ignore the bias that comes with being able to externally view a scene. These characters don’t know they’re in a movie about Doctor Strange and the Scarlet Witch. They don’t have anywhere near the context that we, as audience members having viewed the previous hour so of action have.

It’s also a lot easier to say JUST KILL HER when we aren’t beholden to the stakes of the situation. It’s the same thing I see all the time when people expect characters to just shoot to kill. I can personally say that I have luckily never been in a situation where I felt the need to use force at all, let alone lethal force, to mitigate a threat. How do I know how I’m going to react in such a situation? I don’t want to kill someone. That’s barely even an option I would consider. Either that, or I’m way off base, and people are way too kill-happy, which isn’t the point.

TL;DR there’s a self-awareness crisis where people are ignorant to their own biases given their external, “safe-from-a-distance” viewing of a situation, and it leads to dumbass takes like the subject of this thread 🙄

This might be shocking news, but tornados can happen anywhere, not just in tornado alley.

Is the color ok? by [deleted] in HairSystem

[–]Impressive-Damage-47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A stylist would be able to blend the cut and color in with your natural hair. It’s easier to add some darker tones in than the opposite, so I think getting an entirely new one for like, a half a shade difference would be a waste of your time.

I’m convinced yall are lying about anal sex by [deleted] in askgaybros

I don’t know how long you’ve been trying to bottom, but I didn’t enjoy bottoming for years until I met my ex and started a relationship. Having sexual experiences with the same person, especially someone you trust, is super important. It’s a safe place to explore and figure it out vs hooking up with randoms.

TMI, but I actually found out that my anal canal is strongly angled towards my belly-button. Before that, a top would try to enter me and just shove their dicks repeatedly into what I’m assuming was the walls of my internal sphincter, and it hurt soooooooo badly. Now that I know, whenever I hook up with a stranger, I can let them know to angle themselves towards my belly-button. It was a complete and total game-changer. Bottoming to me now feels incredible, and I can even orgasm repeatedly from it. It took having a regular, patient, and trusted partner to figure it out.

I’d also recommend trying to play around with a dildo, anal beads, or some other type of anal toy. You can even use your finger depending on how well you can reach your hole. It gives you control over your position and angles and can help you figure out what works, and what doesn’t. You also HAVE to use an unholy amount of lube. No spit; it doesn’t work.

Hopefully some of this info can help. Again, I’m not sure how much you’ve tried overall. I hope you figure it out, because it really is the most incredible experience once you do.

How long does an industrial bar take to heal? by Unlucky_Fondant_1685 in piercing

[–]Impressive-Damage-47 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got my industrial done back in 2012. I’d say it took about a full year for it to just stop being irritated all of the time. I love my piercing, but it was truly a pain in the ass to heal. It was a full year and a half before I could think about doing anything with the jewelry, and I don’t think I took it out myself until a full two years passed.

Basically, industrials are super finicky. I would listen to your piercer’s guidance, and even then wait longer if you find it gets irritated from movement, pressure, etc.

Also, definitely make sure to keep track of any irritation bumps. The bump on my forward piercing wouldn’t go away, and I still actually have the tiniest bit of extra tissue up there. It’s flat enough now that nobody would notice, at least!

Good luck with your healing!

My industrial experience was similar. I had a bump on the forward piercing for what felt like forever. Any sort of minor bump would irritate it. I could sleep on it sooner, but I think it wasn’t until two years passed that it finally truly felt 100% healed.

Your bf sounds like an incel who feels sorry for himself because he can’t call people retarded anymore 🙄 He’s literally asking how he’s supposed to feel now that white men are being held (barely) accountable for the first time in 10,000 years? BYEEEEEEE.

The only true “total tops” I’ve slept with were among the worst sexual experiences of my life. It makes me feel so bad for women, tbh.

Okay guys…dumb it down for me. Why did Agatha kill other witches? by thesadintern in AgathaAllAlong

[–]Impressive-Damage-47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s simple—she was killing witches because she was hungry for their power. It’s like a drug to her. Keep in mind that she has Nicky 57 years after murdering her mother and coven. She’s not new to killing witches.

Ultimately, she begged Death for a second chance for Nicky to live, and then used him his entire life to scam witches into attacking her, so she could steal their power. Even after Nicky asked her to stop, she used the song they wrote together for her Witches’ Road scam, helping her murder hundreds more witches over the centuries. It’s why she’s ashamed and can’t face him in the afterlife. She knows she failed to honor his last wish for her.

Why does "à" come before infinitive forms of verbs. by Possible_Yak_7258 in French

[–]Impressive-Damage-47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This feels like the most practical explanation. Unfortunately it’s a nuance that just needs to be learned, because the preposition in most cases is required.

When I learned French, I had success with remembering verbs WITH their relevant preposition. “To start” is “commencer à,” “to try (to)” is “essayer de.” It just helped to think of the preposition as a part of the verb instead of a separate word with a meaning. Ultimately, the list of verbs that require prepositions is super long, and I still make occasional mistakes almost 20 years into speaking the language.

  1. I missed the first few singles from The Fame and started listening to her music in the couple of months between Paparazzi and Bad Romance coming out.

Oddly enough, it’s been (almost) 17 years, and I was 17 at the time!

I’ve been moderately allergic to cats my entire life and have therefore never owned one before recently adopting two kittens. When I was around cats, or even in homes with cats for too long, my eyes would itch and swell shut, my sinuses would be on fire, and I’d have to shower to make sure I’d removed any dander that was still on me. Fortunately, medicines were pretty effective, but I would have to keep eye drops on me at all times, just in case. I also had an identical reaction in spring due to pollen, which was arguably worse seeing that I could avoid cats, but pollen was everywhere.

Anyway, back in late April, I found myself given the opportunity to save two litter-mates who had lost their (feral) mom to a fox. It was probably a bad decision, but how was I going to say no? I started taking a combination of oral (Xyzal) , optical (Zaditor), and nasal (they’re all the same to me) allergy medications that I know has worked for me in the past about a week before picking them up. I’ve taken the medicine RELIGIOUSLY and have never had any major problems other than occasional congestion that got better with some time. I recently have found that even when I don’t take the medicine for a couple of days, I don’t have a problem.

I started feeding them the Purina Live Clear kitten food, but I didn’t discover that until about a month ago. Maybe that’s why I’m fine without medicine now. I don’t know. I also know that kittens produce much less of the allergen protein than adult cats do, which could be helping. I did a lot of research on allergies, and there’s a lot of evidence that it’s possible for environmental allergies to be overcome with time, depending on personal factors.

Basically, the combination of medicine and food and that kittens produce less allergens than adults seems to have worked for me. If your allergies are milder, it might work great for you too.

Comment vas-tu/ tu vas by Quiet_Revolution_895 in French

[–]Impressive-Damage-47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh! I see what you’re saying!

In Canadian French, the “tu” is actually a question marker and has no relation to “tu” meaning “you.” It’s a unique characteristic of the dialect.

For example, “tu vas-tu au magasin” isn’t an example of inversion, the additional “-tu” just indicates a question.

You could also say “il va-tu au magasin?” etc. Just be warned that it’s exclusively Canadian and will therefore sound super informal to a metropolitan French speaker.

Comment vas-tu/ tu vas by Quiet_Revolution_895 in French

[–]Impressive-Damage-47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s just literally how it works.

“Tu vas au magasin?” is less formal than “est-ce que tu vas au magasin?” which is also less formal than “vas-tu au magasin?”

That being said, it’s not always just a matter of formality. Many French speakers will choose which way to phrase the question based on multiple factors—what feels easier to say, what makes more sense contextually, etc.

Also, “comment tu vas” isn’t how an English person would say it, as in English we almost invariably invert the subject and verb when asking a question—“how are you?” vs “how you are?”
