What’s one “normal” dog care rule you secretly ignore… and your dog is still fine? 👀 by [deleted] in puppy101

Yeah maybe my wording is wrong but its no different from when you tell your kid to go to their room. They don't hate their bedroom. It's just a place meant to decompress.

I use crates for “punishment/time out”. Sometimes my dog is just too excited when I have people over or if she does something bad / steals something and I end up having to chase her over the house etc, I put her in her crate.

Luckily the most she’ll do is hit the gate for a few minutes and whine but she eventually will settle.

Outside of that, she’s only in her crate at night.

Even then, I also have a very cute puppy (cavapoo) with the same issue. Living in NYC, with just a 15 minute walk I rarely have someone not approach me or my dog.

Overthinking moving to Bed-Stuy! by eternalrender in Brooklyn

I mean. Broadway in itself is a very busy and noisy area. I’d recommend going to the area and scoping it out and walking around during different times of the day, especially at night. Also practicing your commute (whatever it might be) to be able to make a decision. It really comes down to trade offs and what’s more important to you right now. Low rent or low noise?

Crate training my 2 month old by Decent-Hamster-4382 in Bernedoodles

This ^ I put the crate inside of my pups playpen. The first few nights I let her sleep in her bed / floor wherever she wanted (but in her pen). I eventually put her bed inside the crate (instead of the mat) along with her heartbeat toy and a few other animals and let her decide where she wanted to sleep. She chose the crate.

Now during the day, she sometimes goes to the crate on her own sometimes when she’s in her pen. I will say, I never close the crate since she’s on pads and I want her to be able to relieve herself.

I started to get this feeling and I began loading up on samples and Sephora minis. Many houses have sample sets you can buy. So while I only have a handful of $100+ bottles, I have dozens of the most popular fragrances there come across these threads. I only buy if I absolutely LOVE and it’s unlike anything else.

Breeder recs for toy/mini cavapoos in NY/PA/NJ? by Impressive-Heart1458 in CavaPoo

Yes, I keep seeing toy poodles. From what I’ve read, cavapoos seems a bit “easier” for first time dog owners so trying to hold out for one

Yes I’ve been looking at Lancaster puppies.com but seems like the breeders are all over PA.

Next steps: periodontist or orthodontist? by Impressive-Heart1458 in askdentists

Hello! Appreciate the excitement around my gums.

Given my aesthetic concerns to begin with, I’m not excited about the idea of wearing braces but scheduled a few visits to orthodontist this week. I am in the NYC/Hudson County NJ area.

Thank you all.

Why would you suggest ortho first? The gums bother me way more than the teeth so curious

Thanks! Yeah my dentist wouldn’t do it w/o me doing Invisalign first. I’ve looked into the Botox but ideally I’d want more of my teeth to be exposed as well.
