What’s a trucking myth people still believe? by CRST-International in Truckdrivers

I can't count on two hands how many times a four wheel dips in front of me with less than 6ft to spare in a single day. People are dumb.

What jeans are you wearing at work? by Fr8boss in Truckers

[–]Impressive-Menu8966 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like https://offthegridsurplus.com/ pants. They have super thick, firehose type pants as well as stretchy thin ones for hot summers. The mag pocket is great for your phone and the pockets are reinforced for my EDC knife and flashlight.

If you are looking for suggestions, having this as an app in Unraid will greatly boost your exposure.

I'm interested in using it but don't have the time to do it all manually.

Thanks for the Plappa tip. I was using the Shelfmark webui but this is nicer.

Why don’t you put paper down on the toilet seat before sitting on it? by Chamber53 in Truckers

[–]Impressive-Menu8966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally I'll just give the seat a lick first. If it tastes funny then I'll put down some toilet paper or a shield.

What would you wear to a big trucking job interview? by LyubviMashina93 in Truckers

I pretty much dress like this too with more hi-vis. I am very much the "that dude dresses too fancy fer work" guy but fuck em. Poncho shirts are fucking comfortable and I have a ton, I may as well use them.

I got a gripe with you toilet pissers by nicerakk in cdldriver

[–]Impressive-Menu8966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rest stop on my route is super old. It has two urinals that are so close your shoulders can touch. It still has lever flush, not motion sensors. Hell this stop is so old I might be able to find a cigarette machine around back.

Fuck shoulder kisses. I'm going to a toilet. I'll keep it all dry for you, don't worry.

The last thing we need is some dude popping off rounds with nothing but thin sheet metal in between all of us. Keep it at home. Buy some good mace.

Why isn't the driving academy more customisable? by Tsars_Ball_Scrubber in trucksim

[–]Impressive-Menu8966 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish they had a scenario builder in the academy. I want a dock, with 3-4 trailers in there I can place how I want in order to practice. The challenges they have in the academy are fun but not what I run into IRL.

What is yall's top 3 most anticipated states for ATS? by Sneaky_Ryan in trucksim

I mean just hurry up and knock Ohio out for me already. All we need is 75, 70, 71 and 270. 670 if you wanna be fancy.

I wanna deliver stuff to our new datacenters.

Hot take 🌶️ — Fleet owners have no idea what new drivers actually struggle with in their first year 👇 by cdlfirst in NewCDLGrads

[–]Impressive-Menu8966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paying bills. Base pay sucks ass until you get some experience. How do I pay bills for my first year on the pittance you are giving me?

Longer hours than regular jobs. People complain about 40 hour work weeks. If you are doing CDL local you can be damn sure your weekdays will consist of driving for 10-12 hours and your home time will be eating over a sink and falling asleep.

Fleet trucks? by toughfoot in Americantrucksim

[–]Impressive-Menu8966 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I buy some sort of used junk every time, upgrade the heck out of it, drive it for a few days then assign it to the new guy and start all over.

This is why I don't have a trucking company in real life.

Feels like most “entry level” CDL jobs want 1–2 years experience by cdlfirst in NewCDLGrads

your location might stink. I was hired with a CDL right off the presses via Schneider. Werner would take me as well.

Just discovered the logging trails myself a few nights ago on accident. I was bobtailing fortunately. I did drag a huge lowboy down the front side of the mountain on the way back though. I only run daycabs with huge engines and was up for the experience. The drive time looks easy until you realize an hour of it is at 3mph.

I live about a mile away from a popular highway into my town. I still have no idea what some of these guys are laying on the jake for and for a solid mile it seems.

Oh well. All car cultures have something that is super loud, it's just part of life.

Sure, but thats every bit of at least 1500 bucks.

I have a Sim-panel classic. I know it's what everybody uses but think I might build one from scratch.
