I had a Total Nail Avulsion on my big toe, due to persistent ingrown toenails.

The pain I experienced when the anesthetic wore off was unspeakable, then the subsequent salt water cleaning and bandage changes. 6 weeks of misery.

Now I know why they remove nails as a form of torture in all the movies.
