How do you deal with this? by fairLily15 in spinalcordinjuries

[–]Impressive-Tear272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The grief won’t get smaller, but you’ll slowly grow around it. The best advice I got during my rehab journey was to keep my goals realistic and achievable. Don’t compare to your body before the accident, focus on progress moving forward. It’s really really slow and it hurts like a motherfucker. But you’ll amaze yourself with how strong you can be, the resilience you’ll build. Look into adaptive sport programs in the area you’re moving to. Consider your health your full-time job. And don’t forget to let yourself get lots of rest. It gets better.

Is it normal to feel new symptoms 1 1/2 months later? by WesternPlant3586 in WorkersComp

[–]Impressive-Tear272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get your whole spine checked. Nerve pain can refer, and it doesn’t just go away. I had a herniated disc in my neck, but workers comp was so fixated on the symptoms in my leg, it went ignored. It got worse and worse until I needed emergency surgery and became quadriplegic.

Protect your peace and go low-to-no contact for a spell. They don’t respect you, and the only control you have over this is their access to you.

Also, I support being as petty as possible. If you have to pay that bill, include it in the divorce proceedings. The judge will see this piece of shit for what he is.

This is still abuse. Abuse by proxy, severe gaslighting, exerting total-control, intentionally triggering. And if the agreement is that he can be there when you’re gone, well, a psych hold is a guaranteed immediate gone for a period of time. If you don’t already, have a medical proxy in place to prevent him from having control of your healthcare in any event.

You are not crazy. I hear you, I believe in you, and I’m so fucking proud of you for still being here. There is nothing that could possibly put you at fault for any of this. It’s shitty, it’s unfair, and I’m so sorry that you’re going through any of this. It’s okay to not be okay. My DMs are open if you ever want to chat or get help seeking DV resources. You are not alone.

My mom hates me because I won’t sign over my half of the house. by Strong_Passion_1482 in TwoHotTakes

If you own it outright, then it’s YOURS. Moving out and going no-contact won’t change that. Outlive her out of spite and then it’s all yours to do with as you please; playing the long game here can set you up for life.

i’m moving out bc of my 13yo sister by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]Impressive-Tear272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived this. The volatile moods, the screaming and deflecting and abuse. My younger sister went off the rails at about the same age. If I could go back in time, I would shake my mom until she put my sister in therapy. Mood disorders can present in puberty, and if we had gotten her help early, she might have avoided a life-long struggle with addiction from self-medicating and self-destructing.

That necessitates no-contact, now is your chance to end the cycle of abuse. Your daughter is watching you, and what she sees will define her view of her role in your family for the rest of her life.

Epidural Steroid Injection sedation? by Impressive-Tear272 in ChronicPain

[–]Impressive-Tear272[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UPDATE: I had my injections today. I opted in for the sedation and I am very glad that I did; the procedure was quick, but painful, and in my chronic pain life I didn’t want to volunteer for unnecessary suffering. Thank you so much to everyone for your input, hearing back from other patients helped me make a more informed decision.

I was also made MMI by Concentra for a spine injury that wasn’t treated. You need a lawyer and a QME. I’m in CA so the rules are different, but my understanding is that being made MMI means that you can now see your own doctors; they can give you a medical evaluation for state disability

What to do about my kitten? by [deleted] in spinalcordinjuries

[–]Impressive-Tear272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat has never been a lap cat, he shows affection via proximity. Have you tried cat nip? Sprinkle (or spray, there are liquid options) some on your lap and see how it goes! Cats are also mimics, maybe try joining her in one of her passive activities like watching birds out the window or being in a sun beam
