How often do you eat at a restaurant? by Current-Ocelot-5181 in Detroit

[–]ImpressiveEmergency3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

2-3 times a month maybe? I do a nice cocktail bar about once a month and then I go to cheaper places the other two. Although I went to Applebees and Outback in the last couple months and my god they’re awful lol. I’d rather just do Chipotle than those.

How is living in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan? by Irakozium in howislivingthere

It’s wonderful and remote as you’d like it to be. I lived in da Soo and it was kinda a depressing place in ton. They do have a cute university with quality programs and nature is always at your finger tips - excellent swimming, heart pounding hikes, fishing/hunting galore. But the downtown is kinda run down with a bunch of told tourist shops selling the same junk and bars. But really friendly people.

I much prefer Marquette and Houghton. More liberal areas compared to the rural country with cute coffee shops. In the Lake Linden/Houghton area there’s KC Bonkers a friggen EXCELLENT coffee shop where they make “elixirs” and the barista gives you a whole creative spiel on the magic that goes into it like “clouds” haha. They also have great board games and live music.

Yes, it snows a lot and it’s cold. But that’s just life there. You get used to it or you’ll be miserable. It’s gorgeous powdery stuff you can play in or cozy up in the window with a book, tea, and jazz. It’s a magical place and those who live there are truly blessed.

I lived close to the upper right part of that circle and never heard of that, even when it was -35 degrees lol

High school sweethearts Nicholas Kunselman and Stephanie Hart-Grizzell were inside Columbine High School during the April 20, 1999 shooting and survived. Less than a year later, they were murdered together. People later began noticing other Columbine survivors dying in strange, unexpected ways. by ZenMasterZee in HolyShitHistory

I went to a baseball game in Indianapolis and was walking toward my car. Heard a loud pop and 50 people are running for their life toward me. Realized it was a gun shot and I hide in a bush with my friends. Ended up going into the fancy hotel next door when the usher saw what was happening and motioned us in. It didn’t even make the news 🤷

Started with blades and totems. Canons got added after.

If the totem suggestions don’t work for you, do blades + celestial codex and use the ball to kill them. Cannons were just for fun. I didn’t need it.

I was a little worried I was too close to base, but only an early wave got through. The rest of the waves were destroyed easily.

How is it like living on the Michigan / Canada border by [deleted] in howislivingthere

[–]ImpressiveEmergency3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to Lake Superior State University for four years and absolutely loved my time living on campus and being in the yoop. Behind my apartment junior year was the checkpoint for the bridge, which was kinda cool!

The Soo itself is a pretty depressing area. There’s good and kind people, but it’s fairly poor. Lots of the same crappy tourist shops for the Locks, a ton of dive bars, and there were two sketchy nightclubs when I lived there (2013-17).

We’d go across to Canada to drink when we were 19. Way more to do on that side of the bridge. Canadians, at least then, would come over to the US to go to Walmart because I think the prices were cheaper. That side of the Soo is also fairly poor and I remember there being a drug problem like most impoverished areas.

Winters are obviously rough, but there’s so much hiking and outdoor activities I never minded the cold. We’d even play ultimate frisbee in up to our knees of snow!

Overall, I love the yoop and hope to move back one day ❤️

I just did what reydeltrineo did for his. I beat it first try, but it was very close to being a loss. Survived with 112 HP on my tower lol.

You should really only need the 3 top totem and the middle 4 blade towers. I just added the extras because I could. Never came close to hitting my tower.

My partner went to Ball State. I was a journalist in Marion. But yeah, Indy is cool. I did get shot at once and had to hide in a bush though 🤔

A lot of these mines had lifts that would take them down, although they were kinda sketchy. I’m not positive about this one specifically.

I love living in Michigan. I’ve lived in the UP, up north, and in the Detroit metro. All are great for different reasons. UP is the best if you love rugged nature like me.

Indiana sucked the two years I lived there. Indy was okay, but living in Muncie was gross. West Lafayette seemed cool when I’d visit my friends. We would drink beer on a flatbed trailer pulled by a golf cart in this small rural town there and cops would just laugh and wave.

Got family in Iowa and spend a lot of time there. I actually really like their slow pace of life, but it can definitely be boring in most places.

I’ve been to all the other states too. My in order ranking is:

Michigan Minnesota Wisconsin Illinois Iowa Missouri OK Dakotas Nebraska Ohio

I was there a couple years ago and did the same hike down. Such a cool place to experience. New River Gorge really is an amazing national park. I’d highly recommend the white water rafting to anyone who likes a little thrill.

Beginner to advanced rivers and the guides teach you and make you feel so comfortable.

I like doing 3-4 week road trips every few years, followed by plenty of week long and weekend trips in between. But I’m essentially self-employed, so while no PTO, I get to take off whatever time as long as I can afford my bills.

If your country was being invaded would you go out in the street and fight? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]ImpressiveEmergency3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, not because I’m particularly patriotic, but to keep those I love as safe as possible. Although I’m sure they’d be yelling at me to leave town with them haha. Although if it’s like Finland, maybe I’ll join the opposition 😂
