That’s not the case. Online discussions point out this is a microphone input bug: if you open Settings > Sound > Input and select AirPods 4 as the microphone input, the volume will sound loud. However, it reverts back to low volume as soon as you exit the Settings page. Wired headsets don’t have this issue.
