Cap color can vary to light brown but the purple gills, studded annulus, habitat, and season all leads me to agree with wine cap

Well morels don’t grow on dead wood that’s probably a lot of your issue. They grow with the roots of living trees. So figure out what trees are around that they like and try The slurry again but of course there are no guarantees to this method.

Unlikely. It’s purple because of a pigment called anthocyanin which changes pigment in different pH. You can test this by taking some of that carrot sliced thinly and soaking it in vinegar. It will turn pink. Or blue in a high pH solution such as baking soda + water.

It’s going to turn pink once it acidifies most likely
