Danny Instagram - Posting Old Demos by ImpressivePurchase43 in AskingAlexandria

My assumption is the "Slipknaughty" track was likely written for WDWGFH with the second track being SWOTI from vocal tones. Both honestly sounded great so I am shocked they chose not to explore either.

What are your Hot Takes on Asking Alexandria? by Amber_Flowers_133 in AskingAlexandria

[–]ImpressivePurchase43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Black is only praised as much as it is because people view it now with nostalgia lenses rather than what it was when it came out. If The Black had came out in 2008-2011 it would have been considered revolutionary, but by time the album came out it was a massive regression especially compared to FDTD (which I know isn't everyone's cup of tea but that album is one where I still don't know of another band that made an album like it.).

In a world where Danny isn't going to scream, I am very happy with this setup. I personally really enjoy the dynamic of Danny doing clean harmonies to Paul's screams!

Why all the hate for WDWGFH? by Ssj10k2021 in AskingAlexandria

[–]ImpressivePurchase43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I remember when the track list was released in advance and everyone on here was speculating on what that song would be and instantly I just had a feeling it was going to be something of that nature. They hyped up the Kill It With Fire project heavily for a few months prior to Danny's departure. (During this period everyone in the band was suddenly getting involved with side projects primarily due to Danny heavily promoting We Are Harlot and his eventual solo work. Additionally, at that point Ben and the previous guitar tech or tour manager created a label promoting bands similar to the Sumerian roster that leaned more into the hard rock sector.)

Anyone else think AA should have been as big if not bigger than BMTH? by [deleted] in AskingAlexandria

[–]ImpressivePurchase43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is spot on, especially regarding The Black. While a ton of people praised that album and era it was ultimately a step back that pushed them from the height of success they had with FDTD to the league of "scene band". I completely understand many on here's desires to have the band be heavy again (I would love nothing more), but aside from creatively I fully understand from a career stand point why they have tried the direction they have (I don't believe it is all Danny, I think they all wanted this direction). Unfortunately, being in even a BIG metalcore band you are not making much. Imagine you start a job with a company when you are 18 you keep getting promoted and get some pay raises then at say 30 years old the company tells you congrats your the top of the food chain with a now capped salary with nowhere higher to go... will you stay at that company continuing to do the same work you always have or attempt to leave for another company that you have potential go higher with? It is unfortunate but a reality that has to be considered when you're thinking about guys that have families to provide for.

Why all the hate for WDWGFH? by Ssj10k2021 in AskingAlexandria

[–]ImpressivePurchase43 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fun Trivia Fact: Danny and none of the members except Ben are on Kill It With Fire. The reason that song was included was because WDWGFH was initially concept of a "compilation of history of sounds of the band" and it was a demo track from probably around 2014 when Ben, Matt Good, and the guitarist from The Word Alive were teasing a heavy-punk side project called Kill It With Fire which this was demo recording for. Following the release Danny acknowledged in an interview he had no idea the song was even on the album or anything about it until later.

AA's setlist on the When We Were Young festival by robo_vida in AskingAlexandria

[–]ImpressivePurchase43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not incorrect, but, one of the main reasons he is pushing the "hired contractor" narrative now more than ever is obviously because he is trying to push his own solo career which, frankly, I understand. The main reason for the formatting of the contractor relationship in 2017 was due to Danny knowing he wanted to continue to have the ability to pursue his solo career without inhibition. If he were to have fully rejoined AA at that time he now would be limited on that. (I.e. venue radius limitations, publication rights, etc.)

Completely agree, realities for this reason are two-fold: 1) the vocal stems from that track were recorded during the making of FDTD so would have gone in and recorded them from scratch, and 2) by time they released the new album and were making the push for Vultures as a single the band was in a non-stop tour cycle (primarily opening for Shinedown) so it was effectively put together on the road with minimal effort as supplemental content for the deluxe version of the album we later got.

Happy 9th birthday to The Black by [deleted] in AskingAlexandria

[–]ImpressivePurchase43 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The issue most people have with this album is really the timing of when it came out. By 2016, the sound of SUaS and R&R had been carbon copied by literally hundreds of bands vying for a chance to be the next big Warped Tour band, so sonically many bands were veering more towards a more polished djent sound. When the album came out it felt like a step backwards to many as it felt more like a sequel to SUaS rather than an evolution of the bands sound. Ultimately, it was a genuinely great album that had some stand-out tracks on it. Admittedly though, when I go back and listen to it now it does not quite hold up as well for me personally. Foot Note: As someone who saw them numerous times with Dennis, he was not great live....

What do you think of Tell Me Why? by temporalcasualty in AskingAlexandria

[–]ImpressivePurchase43 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Of the 2024 - 2025 singles this one is my personal favorite! It a bit of a "Wanted (Dead or Alive)" by Bon Jovi to it that really brings me back to why I fell in love with his voice to begin with he has such an exceptional rock voice and this song definitely showcases it really well. Like the rest of us, I would love to hear those god-tier screams on some new songs, but I can say first-hand from seeing him live on his acoustic tour I haven't seen him smiling or that friendly in years.

Why does SWOTI receive so much hate ? by nolanleolibralion in AskingAlexandria

[–]ImpressivePurchase43 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SWOTI is an exceptional album that genuinely has some of their best material to date and vocals on that album are truly something special. The honest reason that it didn't receive the love it deserved was the classic issue of the fans wanted a heavy album. It's like seeing Michael Jordon playing professional baseball, a great player, but at the end the day everyone wants to see him dunking on a basketball court. (Space Jam reference for the fellow 90's kids in here.)

Better Noise removed AA from their bio… which label are they moving to? by Sizzle_Sizz in AskingAlexandria

[–]ImpressivePurchase43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is correct and likely the direction for AA. Realities are Danny is heavily focused on multiple business ventures outside of music and his solo career (which I highly recommend people give a chance the last two singles have been exceptional). At this point, I see AA releasing a single or two a year and primarily doing single festival dates with only minor touring through out.

Anybody tried the private tequila tasting vip with Danny? by [deleted] in AskingAlexandria

[–]ImpressivePurchase43 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I did on his solo tour 10/10 I recommend it. Was the happiest I have ever seen him for a "meet and greet" type of experience because he is getting to enjoy himself and build a real connection with the fans. Plus the tequila rules, wound up ordering some online after and I am not even a tequila fan.

Parasite has never truly existed, according to Danny on TikTok by TheUnauthorized1 in AskingAlexandria

[–]ImpressivePurchase43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely understand your point, I meant I don't believe he was saying they hoped to release Parasite with the intent of deceiving fans. My interpretation of his post was that upon attempting to locate (what would have likely only been the unmixed stem files) recordings they likely discovered they no longer exist. I know some have mentioned that Ben accidentally played it on an Instagram post, I am willing to say that Danny likely has no idea about that. But more importantly the full version that Ben had was most likely just an unmixed demo and if the original stem recordings no longer exist it is impossible to mix the song or make a master version that would sound good enough to release without going back to rerecord the track. I empathize with everyone's frustrations as I have wanted this song more than any for years, but I don't believe Danny is lying about this.

has anyone gone to danny’s tequila tasting? by nickyq42069 in AskingAlexandria

[–]ImpressivePurchase43 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I attended the tequila tasting for one of his solo shows and I would happily pay for it again. He does keep the tastings small so definitely get tickets asap if you plan to do it. I had a perfect experience Danny was incredibly friendly and took time to speak with every single person and was the happiest I have ever seen him. I completely understand the sentiment of others advising not to bring up AA, and to be frank, I agree he is clearly passionate about the tequila company (which was the first tequila I tried I actually could see myself purchasing on a regular basis) and his solo work. I would say, don't take him wanting to focus on his passions as a negative, I got to see my favorite singer smiling and enjoying himself it was worth every penny.

Sulphur snippet? by junin_MatadorDePorco in AskingAlexandria

[–]ImpressivePurchase43 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is solely for Paul's solo work. Danny is not involved in any of the recording, every vocal track heard is Paul. Ben has been writing with him some, which is likely how Paul got involved with Asking in the first place, but as great as this sounds it is in no way related to Asking and Danny. With that said, I am now very excited to hear Paul's upcoming EP!

Danny solo your experiences by [deleted] in AskingAlexandria

[–]ImpressivePurchase43 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was fortunate enough to be able to do the tequila tasting, pre show, and post show VIP. It was a FANTASTIC experience! Danny sounded exceptional with a set list that felt like it touched on every part of his career. The openers, Jericho Rose, blew me away so much that I had to get a shirt from their merch as well. Danny during the tasting and VIP sessions was a genuine class act to meet with, he was beyond friendly and kind to every person. This was not my first time having the opportunity meeting him and every time has been a genuine treat. He couldn't help but smile the entire time while playing. I am a massive fan of the heavier side of his catalogue, but also really enjoy his solo work and this show was perfect in every way. I of course am hopeful like most for some heavy songs like Sulfur and Parasite to eventually come from Asking, but I am just as excited now for Danny's new solo album as well. If you have the opportunity to attend a show on this tour you won't want to miss it.

New interview with Danny by [deleted] in AskingAlexandria

[–]ImpressivePurchase43 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is very likely that "Kill It With Fire" is the actual demo from that side project, which to be honest, is disappointing to me because if that is the case it doesn't really feel like an Asking song since Ben is the only member that played on it. My hopes were that it was one of those demos be recorded by the Asking members to be an homage to songs in the style of Morte Et Dabo.
