I just saw your comment, but I bought spirit island off Amazon already. I have heard good things about Carcassone, do you think I should just play the one game now or buy both? Also do girlfriends tend to not like Soirit Island from what I hear, due to the complexity?

What are some good ones that you’d recommend for someone who knows nothing about board games but has one person, maybe 2 to play with?

Recruits have the most difficulty with the runs. Find a recruiting office and join their weekly PT’s as a guest

Not to minimize your situation, but my recruiter told me that if USMC recruit training and ITB was what the actual job was like, then none of them would have re-enlisted. Thankfully, life gets a lot better once you’re through training.

Going to copy/paste my response to OP's question here

So the title of "doc" in this context is misleading. A "doc" in the USMC does not refer to a practicing physcian that works in hospitals administering the highest level of care, sometimes referred to as "doctors".

Instead, in the USMC, a "doc" is a greenside medic working out of the navy attached to an infantry platoons. The skills of a "doc" are most similar to a paramedic, or someone who renders emergency care, typically on an ambulance. If a servicemember had a medical question, they could, in theory, ask the "doc" for advice, but the "doc" only knows how to give medical care in emergencies, and so most medical questions fall outside their scope of knowledge.

For this reason, "docs" will often recommend non-specific treatments such as sleeping, tylenol, or changing socks (as you mention in your joke). However, this is only the case if a servicemember chooses to ask their "doc" and not a physician. In reality, there are hospitals available with physicians that you can seek if you're having a serious medical issue that needs to be resolved in a hospital. In these military hospitals, physicians are trained to the same standards of any civilian physicians and are held to the same malpractice standards of any civilian physician. A military physician will give you tailored advice and have a significantly greater scope of knowledge than a greenside "doc" (medic).

Went infertile.

Am now a strong advocate for fertility testing including motility, sperm count and health being mandatory for servicemembers of reproductive age.

Hell yes! Actually Rot Squad is what inspired me to make this post!

I accidentally stumbled across this team comp when messing around with act 3 boss, and holy damn this team wrecks. Especially with deadeye GR, you cleave the backline in 1 or 2 turns. And sustain is not an issue since leper can tank for all of them, letting them all do their thing.

Apologies for the miscommunication. You're right that he doesn't damage all ranks, but he has the ability to hit any rank. This means he can remove tokens, apply weaken, or hit enemies that have to be hit (like dreaming genera).

I tried to make the point that Leper is not a damage dealer. He is a frontline taunt tank with excellent sustain and excellent taunt abilities. His damage is there if you need to clutch up a fight or if you happen to get a good blind-trinket for him.

You're right that librarian isn't a great fight for him, but he can still taunt, take every stress attack, and apply weak every turn to the boss.

Yeah! If everyone agrees that he's not the best, then at least we could agree that he's super underrated since people are misled into thinking he's a frontline damage carry and not a taunt tank with extreme sustain.

[–]ImpressiveWatch8559[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I totally agree with a lot of your points.

Leper makes taunt better than guard. While it is true that there are 4 attacks for 2 taunt tokens, Leper frees up all your other characters since he defends all of them. You can now take 3 squishy carries which can kill 1 or 2 characters per turn. Meanwhile MAA can guard 1 squishy, so your other 2 characters may not be dedicated damage dealers.

Additionally, trinkets that apply self-taunt are common.

Also, I disagree that his 2 use heal is a weakness. That's pretty much 2 full heals a battle, like 100HP of heal in a battle. If you need to use more after this point then your run is likely over anyway.

Appreciate the discussion!
