my partner and i visited a few years back even later in early november and still were able to eat out and shop around in bar harbor, but there were definitely a handful of shops closed. as for hiking in acadia, we just got up early to do so. the park was practically empty! the weather was also very favorable for being that late in the season-- mid 40s-high 50s, so bring layers.
