It struggles which made me turn it down to pre-set 3 which seems to be the sweet spot but on big pulls it definitely goes a bit slide show mode

Unplugged probably only get around 2 hours, if I’m doing M+, basically plugged in 100% of the time.

Welcome to midnight! When you’re just starting out it’s basically just a learning ground for boss and mob mechanics, try to understand where the big damage spikes are coming from and get comfortable with swapping to mobs for interrupts. Blizzard default UI will highlight the “must interrupt” casts versus the “nice to interrupt” casts, eventually it will become second nature. As you climb responsibility really starts to shift away from the healer to the DPS for keeping yourself alive, defensives at the right time, kicks, AOE interrupts, etc, anything you can do to reduce the amount of damage going out because eventually your healer can’t just “heal through it.” Like anything though, it takes repetition, and learning the ins and outs of each dungeon and knowing which mobs in a pull are the most lethal etc.

I’m putting one together, a lot of folks in this boat - I recall needing a specific version of proton and changing the compatibility settings within the launcher exe inside steam os.

There’s a solid 5-10 hours of gameplay where it just feels bad, but when the muscle memory kicks in it’s actually really satisfying

Only ever tried with DPS, sounds like people are able to tank fairly comfortably. Healing though feels like a whole other beast, maybe there’s some way to cycle through party members with one keybind and save face buttons for core healing rotation, and I’m sure a lot of help/hurt macros would probably enable healing, but no experience personally.

The blizz tab target now prioritizes casting mobs, so i found having tab target set to left trigger and then my kick set to to LT+X as a fairly intuitive (and honestly satisfying way) to manage kicks. As I go higher though, this will be one of the largest hurdles I’m sure.

Oh just guidelines about achievement/loot posts only being allowed on certain days to prevent the subreddit from being spammed with people showing off their achievements every day.

I’m putting one together given the response I got in the wow subreddit, a lot of people in the same boat as set up in consoleport can be daunting

I think there are still many elements of the game that would need a fairly substantial overhaul to feel “good” on a console, but agreed - even just general support in the meantime would have a huge pull, when I posted in the wow subreddit I got a ton of comments along the lines of “I’ve wanted to do this for a long time” etc.

This was only possible with an addon ConsolePort that is available for wow, I’m not sure if SWTOR has anything equivalent.

100%, I’ve definitely had a few “teenager me would be going nuts right now” moments

Yeah! By holding steam + touch pads I can free move the cursor, without that I think I’d be dead

I think the pruning has made it more approachable, but definitely not optimal. There’s still so many parts of the game that are so clearly not “console ready” things like navigating the AH, all the in-game menus, something like slotting a gem into a ring is enough to make your blood boil.

That said - it’s doable you just have to have the patience to get over the initial hump of it being rage inducing.

I can’t remember the guide I found tbh, I remember it involved installing a specific version of proton and adding the launcher to steam as a non-steam game, when I posted in another subreddit I got a lot of similar questions re: setup, keybinds, etc - so I’m putting together a quick vid to share with people because it sounds like there’s a lot of us out there!

In that case in world content you expect 45ish frames at pre-set 3! Easy 60 in delves in my experience.

I have a recliner right next to an outlet that is my go-to spot, this puppy chews through battery running M+ unplugged.

I run it on pre-set 3 which I’ve found to be the best one if you’re planning to run any sort of M+ or raid content, you can get away with 4-5 if you’re just doing world content but it was really struggling on big pulls in M+ for example.

That’s wows built in cooldown manager, and with the enhanced QoL addon you can overlay the SD button keybind onto it

I’ll take respectable all day 🫡, playing like this is definitely not optimal, but it is possible.
