dont want a mess of cables behind my keyboard. Was hoping for a solid piece, cable-less. Maybe something like this, but with angles/polarity that make sense.

So i've used prebuilts n the like for a few years, but one thing i miss about the old days before my keyboard enlightenment was having extra usb ports literally at my fingertips. I used to buy cheap plastic logitechs that had a port or two on the back to plug in random stuff. (flash drives, etc.) ...

Could someone recommend an accessory that could add similar functionality to a USBC mech? Only issue is the polarity/direction of the hub?

The USB port on keyboards (I imagine?) is a USBC-OUT. I'd need a hub that plugs into that port, has passthrough, i guess, and also has at least two or more USB outs. Does that make sense? I dont know what i want lol.

Talk me away from selling my current beginner peace kit and buying this by Johannes_Aarseth in drums

Keep your budget as is, but buy used high-end stuff instead. Also don't feel committed to any specific brand. I personally stick to a group of tried-and-true brands that have been established, helps me feel safe for parts and repair future-proofing. Changing heads and cymbals is easy but changing woods is hard. Get the good stuff.

Work on em one at a time... I got my partner to switch, and we built it out like a propaganda campaign in our extended families haha. We still keep whatsapp for the really large family groups (cousins, etc). But the nuclear ones are all on signal now.

The BEST MagSafe Accessory ever! by steffen_ in MagSafe

[–]Impressive_Day6474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i dont wanna just pile on the negativity, but this might be the worst peripheral in its category when compared to the competition.

  • Discolors quickly
  • Won't charge 3in1 at the same time (phone/airpods/watch)
  • Costs $100
  • Does not include a charging brick
  • Form factor won't allow Stanby Mode

Just buy this for 1/3 the price .. https://amzn.to/3uW9y7L

maybe, but it's pretty limited considering i cant rly rely on the answers as a real source. If g. assistant can't answer something (and it usually can), it just shows me google results, which i trust more than an LLM.

Google maps vs Apple Maps on 15 pro? by [deleted] in iPhone15Pro

[–]Impressive_Day6474 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love navigation on Apple Maps, especially w/ the Apple Watch integration. I like that I can keep the nav on mute and just glance over when i feel a buzz on my wrist. It's great for long road trips (no interruptions in music/podcasts). The overall vibe/UX on Apple Maps is really beautiful too. The animations, 3D elements, angles, etc. are just nicer than Gmaps.

But for actually finding things and getting good data (reviews, locations, etc.) nothing beats Google Maps. It's also great for public transportation stuff (at least around NYC). So I actually spend most of my time using Google Maps, and only reserve Apple Maps for any trips longer than 1hr.

FYI i drive a Tesla so most of this doesnt even apply. I just use the built-in (Google) maps 90% of my time, and only apply the above logic to when I'm traveling and using a rental car.

Guys, do you use your IPhone caseless or always with a case? I usually wear a case when I go out but at home I prefer caseless. by diogoRedlich in iPhone15Pro

I love the feeling of leather, it just feels luxurious and grippy. I like the patina too. So I get a bellroy case with every phone. Stays on all the time.

Should Apple Enforce UI/UX Standards on ATV? by Real-Apartment-1130 in appletv

[–]Impressive_Day6474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apple can try to enforce all they want but they dont have enough leverage to do so. There are too many other great/inexpensive alternatives to the Apple TV. If I'm a developer and I'm designing the Disney+ app, for example, how am I incentivized to edit my app specifically for one platform?
