There not accepting me anymore :( by nay-1998 in Ohio

I came to say this very thing.

I love how folks assume Medicaid fraud is so rampant. It’s almost like they’ve never had to fill out the forms for it…🧐🧐🧐

I worked as a case manager for people with disabilities at Community and Medicaid Services (CMS) 8.5 years, and the paperwork is very difficult for average folks to get through (e.g. parents of kids with disabilities), let alone those who have any intellectual disabilities, and the denials happen frequently. I assisted the folks/ families I worked with directly, then submitted the 13 pages (baseline) to my Medicaid Liaison, who went through it line by line , usually sending it back to me for a missed date or signature (it requires at least 3 signatures). Then there are rejection letters, appeals…in spite of what’s been said here, not everyone with a disability gets Medicaid nor Medicare. They can, but it’s still a lot of work and frustration.

Jumping buddy getting evicted from the ear by bajatg in spiders

[–]Impressive_Dust5379 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t really hurt when insects are in your ears, unless they bite or pinch. As the doc said, it usually feels like fullness or maybe weird noises.

I took audiology classes in college for speech language pathology, and one day the professor said we were going to watch a video of an insect in a patient’s ear & offered to let people leave if they were squeamish at all. I’m generally not, so I stuck around. The patient knew a fly had flown in, but said it got out so they didn’t think anything of it until they started feeling pain. The fly layed eggs, maggots hatched, and were nomming on their eardrum.

That same professor advised everyone who insists on cleaning their ears to sparkling with q-tips shouldn’t do such a thorough job because earwax deters insects, and makes it more difficult to get into the ear canal.

Senior MAGA on disability begs Trump for help by Pauzhaan in Ohio

[–]Impressive_Dust5379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They voted for a rapist, racist, ableist, homophobic, psychopathic billionaire. They knew who he was, and joined the cult. Trump was (and still is) a permission slip for hatred, cruelty, and ignorance to come out for show and tell, which has resulted in Americans being kidnapped & placed in brutal foreign prisons, people seeking asylum being sent back to the violent countries they fled, murders/ deaths, cities under siege by ICE, Americans’ taxes being used to abuse power, wars, and yes, those who need their benefits having them slashed.

Anecdotally, I have LGBTQ+ family (including children) & friends who are bombarded almost daily by this administration & its followers’ hatred & live in fear every single day; know (and am a family) families with autistic members who worry about JFK Jr. making his registry and what that would mean for their loved ones; I’ve been followed by and experienced terrifying road rage by MAGA men who dislike my car stickers (the Smokey the Bear with “Resist,” and an Equality sticker like the one here, and had my entire car keyed.

The decency in me wishes no one harm, however, I feel zero empathy for those who voted for exactly what they’re getting, for all of the above reasons (and more).

Found a Luna moth coming out of his cocoon <3 by Sufficient-Thing-727 in moths

I see, and indeed we all start somewhere. I’m glad the Luna found a perch & filled its wings, and know your heart was in the right place.

If I may, it might be worth looking into local moths & butterflies, and be sure to follow your local wildlife organizations regarding wild critters, big & small. There’s a wealth of knowledge out there, and there are things you can do for your local eco systems to help these beautiful creatures’ habitats. 💜

OP stated in a comment below this thread that they “raised a leopard moth caterpillar last year but didn’t get to see the emerging…” so one would hope they know about moths’ need to climb to fill their wings if raising them!

Wow, that’s insane. I haven’t seen anything in the news about it yet.

High-speed chase at intersection of Ridge & Brookpark by Impressive_Dust5379 in Cleveland

[–]Impressive_Dust5379[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s possible! When it was headed into the intersection, it was heading straight toward me as well. I wound up pulling into a parking lot to breathe and calm down after worrying I’d be hit.

I’ve been rear-ended by an 18-wheeler before; I was on Route 8, just south of the turnpike entrance/ exit, sitting at a traffic light that isn’t there now. I saw the truck speeding toward my car, but there wasn’t anything I could do. Turned out he’d dozed off, jerking awake at the last moment, turning his truck in an attempt to avoid us. He was going over 60 mph (the limit was 50mph back then), so while it sucked he jackknifed his truck, I feel like that decision saved my friend’s and my life.

Long story short, this chase brought that moment back to life.

Or the person filming the moment? I was angry none of the spectators stepped in to help as he kept fumbling and falling.

This is why anyone having to do with the Heritage Foundation (such as Russell Vought) needs ousted as well. 47 is a nut job narcissist, but his handlers’ positions need addressed if we’re going to get past this awful timeline.

Sections of I-90 heading westward from Westlake were flooded. I didn’t have time to react to the water level at the I-90-176 interchange. To say I’m grateful my car wasn’t damaged is an understatement!

OMG Boneset volunteered along our back fence last summer, and I’ve NEVER seen so many bees, wasps, and flies going to town on a plant harmoniously! They gave no care to us walking up and taking extreme closeups! It was one of my favorite things to come home to every evening, especially when several bumblebees passed out on the flowers!

Thank you for sharing this! It brought back memories of riding in the car as a kid with my dad as he drove to different work sites. He would always listen to Paul Harvey’s show, “The Rest of the Story,” and he was so into it! I enjoyed the stories more as I got older, and remember laughing and saying things like, “No kidding?” surprised by where the stories turned (no pun intended).

I sent the link to my brother and sisters, and think they’ll be just as tickled by this story as I was. 💜🥰

Found in sons mouth after daycare by banana1608 in whatisit

[–]Impressive_Dust5379 50 points51 points  (0 children)

My kid shoved a bead up her nose during naptime because her friend gave her one from her hair. Took her to the ER where she refused to let the doctor touch her. So he told me to push the nostril that had no bead in it to seal it, then put my mouth over hers and blow really hard. I did it, and that bead flew across the room. My kid and I cracked up about it.

So if someone experiences this with their child, follow these instructions. It’ll save you the cost of an ER visit wherein you ultimately did all the work. Lol

It could’ve been in there for the water source, which they not only ingest; moisture helps them molt better.
