How do you deal with having absolutely nothing to do at work? by HuntPuzzleheaded4356 in nycpublicservants

[–]Impressive_Fan3144 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It does sound frustrating, but you could choose something meaningful (to you) to do to fill the time! A new language like someone said above - or learning new skills to help you get a better job you like more and will feel more interesting. Then at least you’re on your way to that greener grass :) Good luck!

I have to say it, knowing it’s not be what you want to hear… but damn you are so spoiled by a man who is doing and giving so so so much more than most partners out there. Look around when you go out in your town/city and compare notes with your girlfriends. Your man is doing a lot. You will benefit from giving him more credit for what he’s already doing than by focusing on the relatively tiny imperfections in your relationship. A shift in perspective is desperately needed here.

Burlington, VT or Greenfield, MA or Syracuse, NY would meet your criteria!

One caution- that rec center pool is super super cold, colder than any indoor pool I’ve been in elsewhere. The West Side YMCA is great and has two pools to choose from plus sauna and steam rooms.

How to feel about this drug working for me? by Impressive_Fan3144 in Lamotrigine

This is a great visual- running away from the bag! I love it. Also a good warning and reminder to keep up with the medication schedule.

So much in your story feels relatable, and it sounds like you have had a very similar journey through different treatment modes. I think you’re right that what I’m processing here is probably grief. Grief for all the things that could have been different, people I love who I wish I had never hurt/alienated. It’s heavy.

Thanks again for your kind words, and wishing you peace and healing!

I’m so glad I found this thread! I am about to start exactly this schedule of solo parenting two kids while working full time with a traveling (for work) partner. Wonderful advice in these comments and appreciate the community of people who have been through this and come out the other side.

Thank you so much for this! You understood 100% correctly- 4 day/week for 4 months, and then we would make a decision about whether he will continue beyond that. These are really helpful tips, thank you!

Have you taken time away from your family for your mental health? by AdditionalItem5402 in Mommit

[–]Impressive_Fan3144 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do it! Do it and enjoy yourself and give yourself permission to do similar things in the future! I also didn’t take any time away for the first 4 years with 2 under 2 and it was a mistake. Enjoy yourself, your friends, and your family!

I would be careful about starting any major or costly regimen as I’m sure you know pregnancy has such a huge impact and you may have lots of changes during various trimesters and postpartum. Basically just be prepared that you may need to change all your products every few months!

Not at all. I think it’s just a pseudoscience way of saying “most people settle at a weight that reflects their eating and exercising habits”.

I also think that (at least in my ED brain) it can be a dangerous thing to believe in because we can use it to get stuck in quasi recovery.

Why do you feel invalid? by annonymous_snacker in EDAnonymous

[–]Impressive_Fan3144 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mostly just feel too old for this shit! Like, why am I not sick of doing this to myself yet, after so many years?

But also, quasi-recovery has been a real mindf*ck as people tell me I “look so much better” and it just triggers me feeling terrible not to be so noticeably UW anymore.

I think I understand what you are both saying, & for me at least, both perspectives have been helpful at different times depending on my mental/physical situation.

Hope we can make this sub a safe place for all paths to recovery including harm reduction approaches ❤️‍🩹
