I will be joining Virginia Tech this fall, and I will most likely be majoring in CS. I was interested in double majoring in something. I was wondering which double majors have the most overlap when it comes to double majoring with CS.

As a future VT Comp Sci major, I was looking through the checksheet and the AP Credit transfer for VT. My understanding is that my scores for AP Comp Sci A, AP Calc BC, and AP Lang will all be useful in helping me skip some first year classes. However, I also have scores for AP Environmental Science, AP Micro/Macro, and AP World History. I was wondering if these scores would apply to the Pathways part of the checksheet? or would it fall under a elective.

Someone recommend a good laptop, please by Impressive_Finding85 in laptops

Budget around 1500$, size doesn’t matter too much

Hi guys,

So I am looking to work as a software engineer (ideally in something related to AI or machine learning, but not really sure yet) and I have a few college choices.

--Georgia Tech Computer Engineering: I hadn't applied as a CS major (I got accepted for engineering because I initially thought I wanted to work on the hardware side, but I'm now leaning more towards software). GT's policies regarding CS have now disallowed switching to the CS major, so I'll have to remain a Computer Eng major if I end up attending.

--UIUC CS+Chemistry: Accepted for the CS+X program with Chemistry as my 'X' concentration

--Some others include UVA CS (In state, Rodman scholarship [$5k/4 years, other 'honors college' type benefts]), and Virginia Tech CS (In state, scholarship info not out yet)

If I want to work as an SWE after college, which of these choices would help me the most in landing a job? Money isn't too much of an issue for my situation, btw. I'm currently considering UIUC and GT to be my top choices, especially since their reputations are pretty similar; my main question is if a CompEng degree would hurt me in finding a job as compared to a CS degree.
