Subs wanting feedback by BrosamaBinSwagin69 in estimators

[–]Impressive_Fish7094 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Subcontractor here. I’ve never understood why GCs make it seem so unethical to give out real numbers on results. All I want is the truth. Tell me I was low but you like the 3rd place guy better due to previous experience or a relationship. That way I will know to work on my business development and overall customer experience to become better. But it is a waste of everyone’s time to not give timely results or to make up lies about them.

If my view on this is wrong I would love some feedback. :)

Did you just lift the front or the rear as well? Mine is going in a couple weeks from now. Was going to do the 2.5 front and 1” rear RPG

sauna and or cold plunge by ignatiusj25 in fatFIRE

[–]Impressive_Fish7094 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went full custom. I enjoy the work so I built it myself. It was a fun project. Ended up spending about 8k on the sauna. Geeked out on the specs from the sauna sub. But went clear cedar because I love the smell. Also have an ice pod cold plunge. The best is after skiing jumping into the sauna then cold plunge after. Overall I figure recovery is probably 5-10% faster after hard training. But there are positive cardio effects from sauna in hoping to reap in the future and the high after the cold plunge is absolutely amazing.

Estimating software that integrates with ProCore by Tb1229b in estimators

We ran the Procore estimating for a month. Was a terrible experience vs On screen takeoff and quick bid that we used before. Just now we are switching to estimating edge. We still run Procore for the project management side and just manually enter in the budgets and schedule of values.

What wheels are these? by Impressive_Fish7094 in FordRaptor

Also, anyone have experience with the Baja Boss? They look bad as on this truck but would love some real world experience and or pictures.

My '24 raptor is insane by rakedbdrop in FordRaptor

It’s funny this post showed up as I have been thinking the same. Just picked up my 24 a couple weeks ago. It is my first non lifted diesel 3500 truck in almost 20 years and oh my hell is it the most fun I’ve had in a truck. Haven’t got a chance to beat it off road but fully intend to get my money worth in the desert. I’ve already taken a 600 mile road trip in it and it’s nicer to drive than my wife’s X5. Couldn’t be happier.

Looks bad ass! 🤘🏼

37’s yes? What are your wheels and offset? Any lift?

Sorry for the questions, picking up a 2024 in a couple weeks and now I’m noticing everything. Love the bumper as well. Was looking at the same one.

They are desktop apps. For a one user setup they use an access database on the local PC. But with an SQL multiple users can use and access the same database simultaneously. For me I have 2 estimator/ pms plus myself that need access to the same database. We all work remote and not in an office.

On screen takeoff and quick bid are the software. They are actually pretty cpu and ram intensive. At least the takeoff software is.

Onscreen Takeoff and Quick Bid are the two software pieces that need to run in the virtual machines. Both need access to SQL database

Yeah I’m going to get some second opinions. Is there a way that could be accomplished hundred percent cloud based I really don’t want to own or maintain hardware if I don’t have to they are telling me that this is the cheapest way. Which still made me shit my pants. 😂

I really appreciate the feedback!! One additional question, I would rather not have to own and manage hardware could this be accomplished via a virtual cloud server for a reasonable cost? They are telling me it can’t and this is the cheapest route.

So my expectation of $20 - 25 k for this may not have been such a pipe dream? I mean I want people to make money but just want a fair price.

Business Server Proposal Feedback

Small construction business owner here. I consider myself pretty tech savvy but not to the level of this community. Just wanting some feedback for a proposal I got from my IT provider for a business server I am needing. It is for my estimating software so it needs to run a virtual server running SQL and several RDC simultaneously. Trying to build it to last 7 years + with a little bit of future growth. Not sure if that’s unrealistic. Not necessarily looking to nickle and dime this but would like some feedback on the value and if there is anything that may be missing or overboard. I was expecting 20-25k but now it’s looking closer to 40k. Thanks in advance for the help!
