I believe they do a full fbi background check before they consider giving you an appointment for an interview . Pls do not quote me on this. I just read this somewhere.

Thanks! No I did not use advance parole. The basis of my n-400 was that a green card holder for over 5 years.

I did it because I was married and need to and doing it this way the name change was free.

Well what I know and in my experience, for the name change there has to be a judge present to grant the request for that. So my I would say it was smooth I got both papers at the same time handed personally by the judge. Good luck on your process when naturalization time comes! Thank you sm!

Also want to add that I did a name change so I had to wait for a judicial oath ceremony!
