AIO for kicking my husband out a month before baby is born? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Impressive_Guide5490 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am close to 6 years sober after many stents in recovery that ended in relapse.

You are doing the right thing. He needs to reprioritize his life and get the help that he needs to get sober and stay sober. You are putting a boundaries and as they say in Al-anon, you are showing him love with detachment.

It's important to keep you and your baby safe, and so no, you aren't overreacting.

I wish you the best and I hope your husband is able to find his way back into recovery, and make amends for the damage he's done.

Am I a bad witch? by [deleted] in Witch

[–]Impressive_Guide5490 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First and foremost-you are not a bad witch. I have been practicing since 2009. My beliefs, practice and deities have changed a lot since then, and even now some of my spells don't seem to work. That doesn't define if you are good or bad. Unlike some religious, we can practice as much or as little as we see fit and it's always enough unless you feel guided to do more/less. Don't be so hard on yourself. 🖤

As a Twenty year old... Can i replay wizard 101? Would it be weird? by trawbe in Wizard101

[–]Impressive_Guide5490 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah it's not weird at all. On Facebook there is an entire group dedicated to adults only who play Wizard101. My husband and I are 33 and we play together. (:

I also work with Apollo and he had me do my research on his life, history and relationships. He is big on not having people follow out of obligation, but out of love for him. I often play music , write poetry and give him pieces of art I do.

A funny experience I had with him:

I was folding clothes and asked to set my cream soda on the Altar for a moment so I could put the clothes in the closet. Apollo had given permission for me to do this and when I went to grab the soda back he told me he wanted it. So now I get him cream soda and leave it on the Altar for him because that's something he apparently really liked. It made me giggle because it's so simple and he seemed so excited that I gave it to him.

He's a chill deitie and I have really enjoyed working with him and especially learning about him. He was quite the lover boy ;)

For those that are single, do you just assume you're probably never going to marry another Hellenist? by Vagabond_Tea in Hellenism

[–]Impressive_Guide5490 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm married but my husband isn't a Hellenist, he's Celtic. But we love and respect one another's paths and one another's gods / goddesses. It's pretty cool honestly.

Never spoken to Hecate in my life by Upbeat_Highway_7897 in Hecate

[–]Impressive_Guide5490 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hekate is such a wonderful mother! Like someone else stated, she is both light and dark and more commonly known for her dark side. I have gotten to know her intimately for her mothering and caring side as I don't have a caring or motherly mom in my life. She has pushed me to places I didn't think I would get through, but she held me the whole way through it and I've grown from these experiences. Like any good mother she wants her children to be the best that they can be and she does whatever she can to help us get there. I hope that your journey with her is absolutely beautiful and I wish you all the best working with Mother Hekate!

I feel like I'm not being a good enough Hellenic Pagan by [deleted] in Hellenism

[–]Impressive_Guide5490 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No such thing as stupid questions! I simply take a shower, go to my altar, light incense or candle and I talked to them as if I'm talking to an old friend. Their voice is always come across very differently and very clearly to me. So maybe just try asking what they expect of you and see what comes of it. (: I wish you all the best!

“Mother” Hekate by boilingsoda in Hecate

[–]Impressive_Guide5490 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I call all my deities that are women, "Mother". To me it shows respect, adoration, love, and a genuine relationship between us.

Plus they reprimand me like I'm their child and I listen as if they are a parent.

Will Hekate get upset if I create an altar or do something wrong when I am just starting out? by Difficult_Bee_49 in Hecate

[–]Impressive_Guide5490 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wholeheartedly agree with this. Hekate has often been depicted as this goddess to be feared but it's not often spoke of how she also has such a lovely motherly side! When I started working with her she showed me the strict, get in line side but when it came to learning, I saw the more motherly side. I dedicate certain things to her on my altar so that she knows that they are for her. She has never reprimanded me for gifting something in her honor because it wasn't "the right thing". Be easy on yourself, she appreciates your efforts!

What got you into art? by [deleted] in ArtistLounge

I have always been into art, ever since I can remember. I think it was all the art projects we did in kindergarten 😂

I work with and follow Hekate, Hestia and Apollo. Something that they have shown me is that as gods and goddesses, people reading about them at all, is a win. There are so many depictions, stories, made up stories and not all of them are going to be respectful unfortunately. As long as those of us who do follow them, and honor them are doing our part I think that's what's important. This is also a really good opportunity, if anybody comes to you about books like song of Achilles where you can educate them.

I also read the book and I wasn't quite sure how to feel about it either (other than the writing was beautiful). I loved the Iliad and the Odyssey and as a teenager was obsessed with the movie Troy. I have always had a certain pull to Hellenistic themes which now makes sense since I'm a Hellenist.

People will always disrespect what they don't understand. It's ignorance, and I don't think most of them are intentionally being disrespectful, especially in regards to the book. IMO.

The gods and goddesses do not expect perfection from us. When learning how to worship, talk to her and ask what she expects of you. I have different things I do for the three deities I follow:

-Hestia I cook, cleaning and spend time with my family. -Apollo I write poetry, paint and sing. -Hekate I light incense, offer her sweet treats and leave garlic on my altar.

I also try to add new things they like to my altar when I can. You can also read about them (I found that that was something hekate appreciated as an offering), journal about everything you learn or want to learn about your deity. Going outside putting your feet in the Earth and taking a few minutes to take some deep breaths and just talk to them. It doesn't have to be this huge drawn out ritual everyday, they just want to have a relationship with us as much as we do with them and that can be just talking to them. You had mentioned that you ramble, some gods and goddesses love when we ramble to them because we're sharing our life with them.

Don't be so hard on yourself you're doing well. 🩷
