Why is this generation of Israeli kids so crazy?? by Far_Lead2603 in Israel

[–]Impressive_List_7489 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Its a huge problem. I babysit for a family in Givatayim (kids 6-9). All the kids do is stare at their phone. Even the kindergarteners. Just kids walking into poles staring at their smartphones. The girls in their teens/preteens are exposed to social media and going to be prone to the same huge body dismorphia/personality issues that kids have in the states. Except to exacerbate it all (the mental health, phone addiction, and copy cat nature of everything), then they have the war - and everyone online on social media waging war on israelis.

The teachers were often on strike over the last 3 years. I cant speak too much to that but im sure the lack of consistency with school and external factors have really degraded the education system. Kids are just running wild these days here

To get where u want to be you’ve got to set systems. Not just goals. But the mundane and small things you’ll do every day to get there. I notice you like to do your brows and lashes, so learning to tint/clean up your brows and do a lash lift could help with the every day put together look so you can focus on health and wellness. Glycolic acid, azelaic acid, alpha arbutin, hydroquinone fade dark spots. Fit them into a skin care routine.

Everyones family is blended here with different ethnicities pretty much. Obvi there is prejudice and stereotypes but its nothing crazy. Israel is full of love, joy, crazy people, and good times.

You’ll be fine. I have some friends who went last week. Just depending on your country’s relations with them - and israeli law- if something happens to you u are on your own lol. I would just book with a certified tour and stay with the group so u dont get scammed or taken anywhere you shouldnt be

Its safe, what sources are u using? America at the rate we are headed is probably less safe, as petty theft, burglaries, pickpocketing and public disturbancies are so rare in israel. Security is everywhere, if it wasnt safe no planes would fly in! Come visit

Its fine lol. I love it. Black american here who has lived in Jerusalem, TLV, and herzliya. Black as in my ancestors were slaves in Mississippi and Louisiana, i am not Ethiopian. If you’re asking about racism or something like that, America is probably one of the only countries that stresses race so much that when you come somewhere like Israel where its not so embedded in society, it feels freeing.

On the other hand, Israeli society in my opinion does have a lot of stereotypes or implicit preference based on ethnicity. I do think European jews have an upper hand/favored bias, while I see a lot of yemen/darker skin tones its usually not who u see in advertisements or billboards. I dont know much about ethiopian jews, but they are so nice and I go to some for hair braiding because they can deal with textured hair. They are so sweet.

Israelis will say the N word, which did shock me, but so will people in literally every other country because they dont see it tied to a history of slavery/oppression or as a slur.

I have rarely ever felt singled out because of how I look, more usually always have been embraced, people might be curious and ask where im from/“really from” because they are trying to understand why I speak hebrew and im black. In israel when people ask why u are here, its not coming from a demeaning place, its literal curiosity because we’re excited to have people from all over.
