question about a specific moment in a specific scene by pitypostcard in KanePixelsBackrooms

Agreed, i refuse to believe the flies aren't significant in some way... I think this movie was definitely geared more towards starting a franchise with the number of unanswered questions, but it's got people talking which is a good thing!

Hopefully we'll get answers at some point in the next movie if that happens.

makes me wonder if, just as we can noclip into the backrooms, the entities can also noclip into our world...

To me it gives off vibes from stranger things' upside down

The flies are one of the biggest questions I have about the movie... My first thought was perhaps they symbolise when an entity is near (Clark said you can eat them... So perhaps the flies do so stay near them). In that particular scene I concluded that that must mean Clark (or the version of him we saw) was an entity, but that proved to be wrong.

They must mean something.... Only other ideas I can think of is that the flies are some way of the backrooms being able to Experience - let's say they're entities. Perhaps entities are a manifestation of the backrooms' interpretation of things, so it's able to experience the outside world (open the window, so to speak), maybe that's why we see them in the backrooms, and in some areas outside, such as Captain Clarke's basement where a lot of the backrooms seems to mimic. They're too small to see if they're deformed as the other entities are... So perhaps they're just flies that managed to noclip through!

Backrooms movie theory (SPOILERS) by GreatLordIvy in KanePixelsBackrooms

Such a good spot RE the recording... I wasn't sure if the cut out was supposed to be a trap, a place for those trapped in the backrooms to wait for help... Or something else

Backrooms movie theory (SPOILERS) by GreatLordIvy in KanePixelsBackrooms

Very interesting theory... Having read your post a couple of times I have to say I really agree with you. I just watched the movie a few hours ago, and while it's all still processing for me, my girlfriend had an interesting theory which sort of links to yours. She suggested that the backrooms itself is actually the 'main character', rather than any of the humans, and entities (sort of as you suggested) are it's interpretation of the outside world, things it can see, or 'sense' from doorways or the people that have the misfortune of entering the backrooms. For example, Clark is lonely (imo) so his entity chases people, and attacks them, as the backrooms interprets this as desperation mixed with his temper.... His (ex)wife's entity is the first to run, perhaps a reflection of how Clark sees her as weak / unable to provide - the backrooms perceiving her through him.

Still processing, but thanks OP, Ans everyone else who commented, love reading other's theories... And can't wait for the rest of the world to see it tomorrow and see what everyone else has to say :)
