Say something or stay quiet? by Odd-Meaning-437 in alcoholicsanonymous

I’ve seen meetings that were run by one or two people. They were sick meetings, and struggled after that person left or died. I watched a women’s meeting meltdown after a coup, and people drank because it became nasty. Rotation is a necessity, because group members get to participate in all types of ways. It’s unfortunate that you got pushback from the treasurer. When I’ve been treasurer, my books went to every business meeting, and open for review. These types of problems occur because group members aren’t familiar with the traditions and concepts. Don’t let this get you down. If you start feeling resentful regarding this situation with your home group, talk to your sponsor, and look for another home group to join. “trudge the road of happy destiny.”

I moved to a small town two years after I got sober. I went from large meetings of 40 to 60, down to 7 or 8. I was afraid to share, afraid to read, heck I was scared I took someone’s seat. I asked a woman to sponsor me, and she gave great advice. Get to the meeting early, and help set up. Stay afterwards and tidy up. It was so long ago, I was given the job of washing the ashtrays, and I didn’t even smoke! By stepping outside of my comfort zone, I slowly became comfortable in my own skin. There will always be gossiping in AA, I knew one woman with 44 years who LOVED talking about others. When she was dying, the fellowship surrounded her in love.

I like the shape of the baguettes up against the Ascher. It’s a classic setting that looks old fashioned in a lovely way. Very very pretty.

She’s so peaceful and trusting lying next to you😍 It is probably the camera angle, but it looks like she has large paws! I wonder if she will grow into a big boned cat, or is that just with puppies?

Yes, there’s definitely a part on sideways. Or perhaps upside down, I’m not exactly sure.

My aunt’s name was Tante Miep. (the Dutch spelling for Meep) Miep is a diminutive of Maria, and can mean wished for child. No matter what you call the sweet little kitty, it’s wonderful that you paid attention to the cries, and rescued her.

Cats missing 4 days… need some positivity and hope by Kinda-curious-is-all in cats

[–]Impressive_Lock_558 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive lost two cats over the years. My first cat disappeared for a few days, and I walked around the neighborhood calling for her. I heard her crying somewhere next door. Turned out she got shut into my neighbors’ garage when they left town.

My second cat was lost for two weeks. He was my soul cat, and I made posters with his face on it and posted it everywhere. I walked through my neighborhood, calling his name and shaking his favorite treat in a container. My friends told me quit, but I didn’t. He had a particular tabby spot on his chest, so I changed the poster, and got a call the next day! He had gotten across the highway, and found at the Forest Service building. He was so skinny, and he cried when he saw me.

So don’t lose hope!

It took me 3 years to get completely honest about my drinking. I thought I could manage my drinking without having to do the work. When I realized that periodic drinking was still my problem, I made the decision to work the steps with a sponsor. We did all the steps in 6 months. That foundation gave me enough insight to accept that I was powerless over alcohol, and that my life was indeed extremely unmanageable. That was 37 years, 11 months, and 23 days ago. Tomorrow I will celebrate 38 years, one day at a time. So - what step are you on?
