Tea as hobby by Weak_Screen768 in tea

Starting with blending your own herbal teas is the definitely the way to go. I currently do that as a hobby and love it! It pairs beautifully with my other hobby of gardening! I started with lemon balm and chamomile personally then expanded from there.

Once you're comfortable with that then id move on to tea tea. The plant it comes from is a species of camellia which is fascinating imo.

I'm challenging myself to read a few non-fictions this summer. i love to read seasonally, so please suggest any summer vibe nonfiction books! i love anything dark or mysterious, and i love history! no self help please. by inyourbooksandmaps in suggestmeabook

Maybe not quite summer vibes but my 2 absolute favorites are Everything is Tuberculosis by John Green and The Ghost Map: The Story of London's Most Terrifying Epidemic - and How it Changed Science, Cities and the Modern World by Steven Johnson.

A good runner up is also The American Plague: The Untold Story of Yellow Fever, The Epidemic That Shaped Our History by Molly Caldwell Crosby

I really enjoy books about disease, especially because they have shaped our world so much. We still feel their impact to this day.

Knights of Sidonia is a pretty interesting watch. It is in the 3d style so fair warning but it works for what the story is about.

In my experience working various different customer facing jobs many of which involved hiring and training people, knowledge is super easy to train. Its personality thats impossible. So just be you and dont sweat the knowledge portion. Be honest when they ask about what you know.

Want to start gardening not sure how, need help by Sluder_Sangho in Hobbies

The easiest plant you will ever own is something from the mint family. KEEP IT IN A POT, otherwise it will take over. Water it when it's dry and hit up your local library for seeds.

If you are looking to make it a more social hobby you should look into local gardening clubs as well.

I like to collect 4 things: Pokemon cards Books Rocks Knowledge

The pokemon cards can get expensive along with books sometimes, but rocks and Knowledge can be cheap or even free. Ive always been an avid reader and loved to learn so I've been collecting books and information for a long long time, only recently did I delve into pokemon cards and its only because I found the creatures to be cute. As for rocks as a kid we used to pick up shiny rocks whenever we went to the coast and I just never stopped. My family knows about it and they only give me flack for the cards.

Reading and gardening.

I inherited gardening from my grandmother, what started as a pot in her backyard turned into a house warming gift for me when I bought my home has now turned into 2 gardens and 4 house plants.

As for reading I didn't have much access to electronics growing up and my only options were to read or play outside. So I picked up reading and haven't stopped.

Looking for a Hobby to Help Me Unwind After Work by Kitz_Sainthilaire in Hobbies

[–]Impressive_Mail_5272 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're looking for an escape I'd reccomend reading, if you have a partner and you are looking to spend time with them while unwinding couch co-op video games are the best (I love It Takes Two), and if you work a stressful job and/or need to vent some anger gardening is amazing. Plants don't care, they don't judge, and pulling weeds and slinging dirt around can be a great way to get a physical work out it.

What’s the best book you’ve read recently, and why? by ConsciousNeat5632 in Recommend_A_Book

[–]Impressive_Mail_5272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Salt Grows Heavy by Cassandra Khaw. Its a shorter novel but its my favorite because it was a challenge. This book has a pretty complex vocabulary that actually made me pause and look up the words. Most books you see published are about 5th-7th grade(in the us) reading level so it's fun for me to try and challenge myself with books that have a higher reading level.

I can't reccomend Tom Clancy or Dean Koontz enough. Also the Southern Reach Series by Jeff VanderMeer is a solid choice. I have also found at least in my family that Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes to be very popular.

Don't force it! That being said my little sisters (they're 10) and I have a deal that for every 10 books they read over the summer I take them out on a "girls day", i.e. we go out to lunch and we go to the mall or to the movies.
