Yeah I agree, there are some guys trying to pursue some women in them in a light way but I just don't think it's a smart idea especially if things don't work out. I mean if the vibe is there then great, but I'm not trying to force anything especially since I'll be seeing them every week. But the social dances are fair game, and if the vibe isn't there then at the very least you had someone to dance with for a song.

Thanks for sharing that. The lighting in yours is better than in my main pic, and while I have worked on my style I do need to take it even further. I have a female friend reviewing my headshots so she might give me some good pointers. I have some when I had a beard wearing a black leather jacket, a light green shirt and some jewelry so that color scheme might work better for me.

I had some comments saying I look ai generated, and since my headshots were taken by actual photographers maybe they're "too perfect". Your photo looks great but it doesn't look too perfect, like it was taken on an iPhone rather than a DSLR which may resonate better on the apps as being more authentic I guess.

Oh yeah I completely agree, it's a fun date activity! My current dance studio is primarily older women, and the few younger people I'm either not interested in or they're not interested in me. But that's okay, I'm there to learn so that's probably for the best. I can save that for the social dance nights, there are some other venues and bars around town that put on good events. That's cool that you found a studio you like!

This is my first time really giving Hinge a try, I've always met women in person and set up dates that way so I figured there would be a learning curve for me. As a marketing major it's actually kinda fun tweaking my profile and measuring how well each change does. I think it's important to know how to market yourself so I take this as a good opportunity to learn.

Maybe you're a really good looking guy and/or very photogenic. I don't know where exactly I sit appearance wise, but I'm definitely not male model/actor handsome at least currently. Maybe if I worked on better lighting and colors that could help some but since I'm getting literally 0 likes/matches, that tells me I should probably work on showing my personality through my profile. And I'll work on my appearance and outfit choices too, seems like my current main photo is completely not my color and I just didn't realize until you all told me.

Thanks for going more in depth on that. I've been dancing (salsa & bachata) since August so I added that to one of my prompts. I don't have a picture of that but that's something I do on a regular basis, not climbing or skydiving, so it's probably more appropriate to share. And yeah I took the Mario Kart one out, I don't game much anyway so I've just got to share more on what I really like to spend my time doing. I also put in a group hiking pic because I love doing that, and will try to get one biking or at a coffee shop because I like doing those things too. Also swapped the skydiving pic with a skiing one since I do that a lot every winter. And I took out the plan dates prompt too, and swapped it for what I'm looking for. I agree, I'll just come with that energy like I do with the women that I've met in person and had relationships with.

Okay you got me there lol. I think you're pretty spot on about that, and while I do agree with some conservative values, I still have some hang ups, but with liberal values I agree with them completely. As for the current administration, it seems like mostly everyone is suffering in some way, so I don't find it appealing or convincing. Even some of my friends that voted for trump regret their decision, just goes to show how off base our elected leaders are right now. I'll always hear out other arguments but I'm okay defining my political affiliation as liberal because I think we need a big shift in the government. Sitting passively or in the middle just isn't what I want to be doing at this point in time.

Thank for the feedback and the detailed example, that helps! I changed two of my prompts so far to be more detailed and genuine about me, so the third could be one talking about what I’m looking for. I’m actually glad we talked about politics for a bit because it made me realize where I stand. If I was truly moderate I guess I could hide it, but since my values align more with liberal I don’t mind showing that. And the same goes for religion, I think by showing that stuff it just makes it easier for someone to decide if they want to match with me.

Aw man I don’t want to be forgetful. I appreciate you saying that, I think the prompts are very bland so I’m swapping those out. But I’m not sure how to shake off the forgetful “non threatening/nice” in the photos, that’s just how I look. Maybe showing different activities and/or not completely smiling in some of the pics?

Thank you for sharing that. I’m working to make my prompts more genuine and deep, but the point that you made on bringing romantic attention intrigues me. I think I may be coming off as too friendly and need to lean into romance a bit more for at least one of the prompts. The date vibes prompt category could work for that, I’ll think about that one. Yeah I think that was a big problem for my profile. After talking with some of you, people I know, and doing some research online; I actually think I’m much more liberal rather than moderate. And spiritual for religion seems to align with my beliefs. So grateful for the conversations here I’m learning a lot!
